POSITION SUMMARY
The Lighting Director works closely with other creative personalities and is responsible for the lighting design,
maintenance and implementation at all Sun Valley Community Church (SVCC) campuses. In all actions, this role reflects
the SVCC team leadership distinctives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Program and manage lighting production elements at all SVCC campuses
- Recruit, train, develop and lead volunteer lighting teams
- Maintain safe lighting environment by troubleshooting and repairing/replacing lighting fixtures and other lighting equipment
- Participate in set design creation and implementation
- Participate in campus creative planning meetings and work collaboratively with designated campus production
teams
- Research, design and propose detailed recommendations for lighting and production upgrades and new lighting
plots at all campuses. Implement approved plans
- Provide technical consultation and support to Campus Technical Directors
- Foster a shared SVCC standardized lighting experience and workflow throughout all campuses
- Participate in the creative process for series development and in weekend review and planning meetings
- Manage lighting budget
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent, and earned degrees and/or other training that has equipped them for the
duties of the role
- Two years of full-time experience in lighting design, maintenance and installation including working with pipe
structures, theater construction techniques, general hand and power tool usage, and building/constructing with
stage decks, industry approved rigging techniques, cable termination (Cat5, XLR, BNC, DIN)
- Ability to operate technical equipment/software including lighting consoles (grandMA 2), conventional fixtures,
moving fixtures, DMX, basic electrical equipment, media servers, ProPresenter, Ableton-Live, etc.
- Significant working and technical knowledge of all aspects of live production, including audio, lighting,
multimedia music, and staging; offline lighting design (3D Visualization)
- Knowledge of and adherence to related OSHA standards
- Ability to manage budget
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity and character consistent with the Biblical requirements for church leadership
- Effective relational skills; proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated, self-directed requiring minimal supervision
- Teamwork orientation with ability to recruit, train, lead and motivate others
- Agrees and aligns with the vision, values, pathway, leadership distinctives, and doctrinal statement of SVCC
