places of the Lowcountry, and through it, to the world. Our Student Ministry Director plays a vital role in accomplishing our vision and mission in the lives of HHPC’s students. Through teaching, relationship building, discipleship, evangelism, activities,
events, and training, the Director/Pastor of Student Ministry seeks the transformation of students into the image of Christ.
Responsibilities
- Sunday evening gatherings: Lead the weekly Sunday evening gathering, including: expositional teaching, game or activity, fostering a welcoming and relational atmosphere, small group discussion.
- Sunday morning gatherings: Teach interactive classes, and recruit and train other teachers.
- Discipleship: Meet with students regularly for one on one and group discipleship and Bible studies.
- Events: Lead monthly events that foster community and relationships, and provide a place for students to invite their friends.
- Volunteer recruitment and training: Build relationships with the membership of the church, and recruit and train members who have the gifts to disciple students.
- Shepherding: Respond to situations that require pastoral care, both for students and volunteers.
- Communication: Send weekly newsletters to parents with upcoming events; maintain Student Ministry social media accounts.
- Safety: Assure that all Student Ministry programming is implemented according to the safety and security policies of HHPC.
- Administration: Complete administrative tasks, such as event planning, financial records, budgeting, responding to email, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by the Pastor of Administration.
Qualifications
- Reformed Theology: A sincere commitment to Reformed doctrine.
- Ministry Experience: Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, teach, and disciple students.
- Theological Education: Training in Bible, theology, and ministry. A seminary degree is not required, but is a plus.
- Relational Passion: Pursues all students, not only the most committed, for the purpose of life on life ministry and discipleship.
- Integrity of Character: Living a mature life that embodies love of God and neighbor, exudes Christ-likeness, and bears the fruit of the Spirit.
- Teachable Spirit: Demonstrates a growth mindset and seeks feedback.
- Wise and Decisive: Sound and discerning leadership, yet able to make good decisions when adaptability and flexibility are required.
- Team Player: Desires to collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and parents in order to build the most effective ministry possible.
