We are seeking a pastor who is an engaging, prayer-focused, and biblically faithful teacher who can relate to people of different ethnic, socio-economic, and generational backgrounds. This pastor will lead our church to execute our mission to make, mature, and mobilize disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrates a life that is passionately lived in the fear of God, and for the glory of God.
- Prior involvement in ministry leadership (paid or volunteer).
- Experience in preparing and preaching sermons.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Communication: The ability to convey ideas, thoughts, and information clearly and effectively.
- Active Listening: Paying attention to others when they speak, understanding their perspectives, and responding appropriately.
- Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings and perspectives of others and demonstrating sensitivity towards their emotions and experiences.
- Conflict Resolution: The ability to constructively identify and address conflicts, find mutually beneficial solutions, and maintain positive relationships.
- Collaboration: Working effectively with others towards common goals, sharing responsibilities, and supporting team members.
- Negotiation: Finding mutually acceptable solutions in situations where there are differing opinions or objectives while maintaining positive relationships.
- Emotional Intelligence: Being aware of and managing one's own emotions effectively, as well as understanding and influencing the emotions of others.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the spiritual leader of Freedom Baptist
- Provide overall vision and strategic planning for ministry effectiveness, working with the Elders, Deacons, Staff, and Lay Leaders.
- Serve as the primary preacher and biblical teacher, responsible for our worship services' emphasis, themes, and direction, and coordinating guest speakers.
- Devote significant time to prayer and the study of God’s Word.
- Serve as a leader by example in personal discipleship, stewardship, evangelism, and a Christ-centered life.
- Serve as a resource and advisor to the leaders of various church ministries and committees.
- Conduct, approve, and oversee weddings, funerals, infant dedications, baptisms, Holy Communion, church membership, outreaches, and church discipline.
- When needed, counsel congregants through times of crisis and life events and/or refer individuals to qualified counselors.
- Ensure the ongoing ministry to congregants who are facing major surgery, are homebound or are in care facilities.
- Visit members and prospective members with the assistance of Elders, Deacons, and other ministry leaders.
- Work with the church treasurer and Elders to ensure the church's financial well-being through the budgeting, planning, and reporting processes.
- Lead the church staff and lay leaders through administrative direction, planning, performance assessments, and monitoring of deliverables and responsibilities.
- Train and invest in future elders, deacons, preachers, or missionaries through mentoring, teaching, and creating opportunities to teach/preach as appropriate.
- Work with other churches and organizations that are consistent with the church's mission and values to further impact Henry County and beyond.
- Agree to abide by the church’s constitution and by-laws.
