Active Church is a non-denominational Christian church located in the beautiful city of San Luis Obispo, CA. Sitting just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, this city is a cherished destination along California's Central Coast. Boasting sun-drenched beaches, majestic vineyards and charming communities, SLO CAL offers a year-round haven for adventure. Active Church is led by Lead Pastor Adam Magana & his wife Stacy, who planted the church in 2017. The church has since then purchased a building and moved into their new facility in March of 2022, which is located minutes from downtown SLO.

Childrens Ministry Director

Status: Full Time 

Direct Supervisor: Lead Pastor

Area: Families & Kids 

Mission: To make fully devoted followers of Christ. Helping students get from where they are to where God wants them to be.

OUTCOMES

  1. Evaluate - Be responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the Ministry calendar. Meet and communicate regularly with ministry and church leaders to listen, provide information and evaluate the Ministry.
  2. Yearly Calendar - Lead the process to create the ministry yearly calendar with clear rationale for each program and event and an explanation of how each will help take the next step in their development and how this will make church a place where families go to get better.
  3. Training - Develop and execute strategies that will grow the ministry each year. These strategies must include opportunities and training that will inspire individuals to invite friends and have spiritual conversations with their friends.
  4. Monthly Events - Create engaging monthly environments that gather individuals through worship, teaching, connection, and services.
  5. Life Groups - Create systems and environments that ensure everyone is connected in a life group.

FAMILIES 

  • To make church a place where families go to get better by developing a thriving program that partners with parents in discipling their student, points the way for them to follow Jesus to more life than ever before, and produces the next generation of church leaders
  • Working in partnership with other ministry leaders, develop systems, teams, and opportunities for individuals to use their strengths to serve the church and community. Showing involvement of families/students who participate in a weekend services serving in the church.
  • Develop and execute systems that connect new families/students, streamline check-in making sure all info is captured, facilitate baptisms, and train every new and existing volunteer at 100% functionality. (A ‘connected family’ is one that is following Jesus to more than ever before by serving, giving, participating in Life Groups, and inviting others consistently.)
  • Develop and execute strategies that “go home” with families, for the purpose of helping parents disciple their students. Show involvement of parents with a disciple-making step for their student.
  • Communicate consistently with parents.

KIDS

  • Oversee weekly weekend ministry experience.
  • Conduct a weekly, high-energy kids church. 
  • Lead regular planning meetings for kids ministry leadership team.
  • Develop a team responsible for technology needs in children's ministry environments.
  • Develop a team responsible for kids worship. 
  • Regularly review and evaluate presentation and general appearance of children's ministry environments.
  • Plan and execute special events including community outreaches such as: VBS, Pajama Jam, Easter Eggstravaganza, Back To School Student Outreach, father daughter dance, mother & son event, direct Kids baptism orientations.
  • Administrating curriculum and programs
  • Schedule occasional on-site child care during various church events.
