First Baptist Church Marietta (FBCM) has been an integral part of downtown Marietta, GA for almost 200 years. Our buildings are located just north of the Marietta Square, but our membership and influence extend throughout Cobb County and the northwestern suburbs of Atlanta. We are a missions-minded, service-oriented congregation that wants to be welcoming to all who seek to follow Jesus Christ and His teachings.
We are currently seeking a full-time Student Minister to lead our thriving student ministry program. Our student ministry includes students in grades 6-12. Our students represent dozens of public and private schools across Cobb County, GA.
This position is a full-time role and will serve alongside several other full-time ministers. This role will report to the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities:
- Leads an engaging Student Ministry program that is centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ and sound Biblical principles.
- Builds strong partnerships. Works with the FBCM staff, parents, and youth volunteers to plan and implement programs focusing on worship, discipleship, missions, and community outreach.
- Assumes a visible and active leadership role within the Student Ministry, the church at large, the church staff, and the Marietta, GA community.
- Provides spiritual guidance and discipleship to students. This includes working with students of many different backgrounds and at different stages of their faith journeys.
- Advocates for youth. Educates the FBCM congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of the youth in the local church and community.
- Is a lifelong learner. Strives to grow professionally. Actively participates in training and development programs and related activities.
- Identifies and selects programming and educational content that is based on Christ-centered principles.
- Recruits and trains volunteers to support youth activities.
- Works in partnership with FBCM staff, committees, and any advisory teams to run the Student Ministry.
- Strong financial acumen. Manages the FBCM youth budget and uses sound judgement to make responsible fiduciary decisions.
- Ensures a strong and viable youth Sunday school program through strong leadership and organizational skills. In working with and through the Senior Pastor and other ministerial staff, institutes a Bible-based curriculum, creative teaching, and educational opportunities.
- Identifies and develops student-oriented programs that are engaging and attract students from the Marietta, GA community. Identifies times during the week to meet and run these programs that fit the current needs of the church and community.
- Develops a creative, enjoyable, and attractive schedule of extra-curricular activities that is engaging and attractive to students.
- Ensures that all applicable child protection policies, procedures, and training are implemented and observed in all student ministry settings.
- Responsibilities for this role may continue to grow as the Student Ministry grows. Other roles and responsibilities may be added over time.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor Degree required, and Master of Divinity or equivalent preferred.
- Builds Relationships: Develops strong relationships with students, parents, volunteers, FBCM staff, and church members.
- Leadership: Strong leadership experience with a proven track record of running engaging ministry programs and activities.
- Communicator: Communicates effectively across all channels – written, verbal, social media, etc.
