Middle School Youth Director

 Supervisor: Youth Pastor.  Ultimate and final responsibility for determining the duties of this staff position, however, will be the Board of Elders collectively.  

Description: The Middle School Youth Director will assist the Youth Pastor in oversight of the middle school ministry program(s) at ABF. He/She will encourage the middle school students and their families of ABF to be engaged in an intentional process of becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, encouraging service within the various ministries of the church.

Qualifications

·       A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a vital and growing walk.  Someone committed to leading a personal lifestyle of discipleship, evangelism, study, and worship.

·       Education – A Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree in Theology/Bible.

·       Ministry Experience – Previous church or related ministry experience preferred.

·       Exhibit a passion, love, and ability to relate to students, parents, and leaders.

·       Relationships – Joyful submission to godly authority; a person of integrity; healthy relationships with spouse and children and their support for involvement in this ministry; good working relationship with the staff team.

·       A Shepherd’s Heart – Someone who recognizes the importance of shepherding those under his/her care, training, and equipping them for more effective service.

·       In agreement with the Expanded ABF Doctrinal Statement and the adopted Philosophy of Worship.

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Assist in oversight of Student Gatherings, home groups, Student Leadership Program, and other ministry programming.  This will involve, but is not limited to, service planning; overseeing set up and tear down of meeting space and resources; working with college/adult volunteer leadership.

·       Prepare gospel-centered teachings regularly to help students grow. 

·       Meet with students and/or parents for discipleship, spiritual mentorship, and/or counseling.

·       Assist the Youth Pastor with administrative needs. This may involve, but is not limited to, ordering resources/materials; email communication with college/adult volunteer leader ministry teams; contacting new students to connect them with the ministry; assisting with planning for retreats, mission trips, and conferences; assist in event planning.

·       Recruit and lead high impact volunteers.

·       Attend and support all student events.

·       Maintain balanced budget for all areas of oversight.

·       Other duties as assigned, and as time permits.

Time Requirements

The Middle School Youth Director will necessarily have to work some evenings, weekends, and other irregular hours in order to fulfill these responsibilities. Hours will be assigned and agreed upon with the direction of the Youth Pastor.
