SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Pastor of Children’s Ministries is responsible for the pastoring of children and their families through the implementation of a ministry strategy that inspires wonder about God and builds a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated leader who is passionate about creating welcoming environments where children can discover God, His story, and their place in it? THey will also have a gift for developing and shepherding staff and volunteers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cast the vision for a vibrant Children’s Ministry that will allow kids to experience God, not just learn about Him, in a relevant and relational way
- Develop a dynamic leadership team of staff and volunteers through providing resources and training and implementing appreciation strategies
- Supervise, coach, and support early childhood and elementary directors
- Ensure staff preps all classrooms for weekend programming (playlister, crafts and game supplies, etc)
- Ensure staff schedules all weekend volunteers
- Lead weekly team meetings
- Schedule all weekend volunteers for Leads, check-in, and BUDDY program volunteers
- Develop opportunities within our Engagement Pathway for parents with children
- Plan, organize, staff, and coordinate engaging summer programs for children
- Partner with the Early Childhood and Elememntary Directors to oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention
- Collaborate with the Next-Gen team to serve families at MRC by helping parents augment their parenting skills and arsenal, and improve their relationship with their children
- Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of children, including but not limited to effective use of check-in and check-out technology
- Plan and participate in parent/child dedication services and classes
- Plan and coordinate Children's Baptism Class
- Coordinate childcare for First Step, Rooted, and other church-sponsored events
- Lead at least one of the following: Rooted, Huddle, and/or Outpost
- Plan, staff and implement camping experiences for upper elementary grades
- Use effective modes of communication including emails, texts, Facebook, Instagram, Group Me, mailings, etc. designed to keep families engaged and informed of current programs, projects, and opportunities
- Attend all staff and team meetings
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain God-ordained priorities by putting Jesus Christ first, (if married) your spouse second, (if you have children) your children third, and the ministry fourth.
- Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and join God’s movement through Mercy Road Church.
- Hold integrity standards when working with the opposite sex.
- Tithe the first 10% of your family income.
