Job Description:

Mt. Vernon Christian Church exists to glorify and worship God by making disciples, through Biblical teaching, authentic community, and gospel-centered multiplication. We are a medium size church with about 190-200 people in weekly attendance. The purpose of the position of Associate Pastor of Family Ministry is to assist Mt. Vernon Christian Church in fulfilling its goal of helping people grow deeper in their walks with the Lord and to reach farther in the community and around the globe. This individual will work alongside the Senior Pastor in the area of family ministry, providing spiritual leadership, encouragement and resources.

Education: Required at minimum a Bachelor’s degree from a Bible College

Responsibilities

         Primary Responsibilities

  1. Support the Senior Pastor in the overall leadership of the church ministries.
  2. Supervise and provide oversight for the Children’s and Student Ministries.
    1. Supervision of all paid & volunteer staff associated with Children and Student Ministry.
    2. Working with current staff/volunteers to train, recruit and strengthen the ministries. This includes Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
    3. Working with the Children’s Ministry Director and Student Ministry leaders, finding ways to equip and encourage parents in the training of their children.
    4. Work with the Children’s Ministry Director and Student Ministry leaders to set the budget for the next year.
    5. Regularly attend both KidVenture (similar to Awana) and ‘The Forge’ (Student Ministry Gathering) They happen on the same night, so attendance will have to be rotated.
  3. Direct oversight of the small group ministry. This would include recruiting and training new leaders and building the program. This individual must lead a small group as well.
  4. Oversee MVCC’s outreach programs and events (Egg Hunt, Concerts, etc.)
    1. This would include developing new ideas for different family events and implementing them.
  5. Assist in worship ministry by leading the congregation in singing on Sunday mornings or during any special services. Our worship ministry director will compile the music and arrangements, schedule practices ect…the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries (this individual) will vocally lead many songs and assist in playing guitar.

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. Assisting in Pastoral Responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Senior Pastor. Some include:
    1. Preaching or other teaching opportunities
    2. Visitation/hospital visits
    3. Assisting with weddings and funerals
  2. Attend all staff meetings/congregational meetings or other meeting deemed necessary by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.

 

Spiritual Expectations

  1. Align with the Theology, Vision and Mission of MVCC (found on our website)
  2. Meets the Biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Reports To

  1. Senior Pastor
    1. This individual will provide the Senior Pastor monthly reports.
  2. One performance review annually.

Time – Hours per Week Expected: 45 hours (includes all church related activity) Evening hours will be required. This is a Full-Time position.
Salary- $50,000-$55,000
