Position Overview

The Pastor of Ministries at The Chapel is tasked with leading and supervising the ministry staff and aligning their work with the church's beliefs and strategy to empower both staff and congregation in ministry endeavors. Key responsibilities include fostering a culture of servant-leadership, ensuring alignment with the church's mission and values, evaluating ministry effectiveness, and providing leadership support. This role involves overseeing staff development, managing organizational structures, and collaborating with the lead pastor and executive team. Pastoral duties include shepherding the congregation, participating in teaching, and assisting with pastoral care activities. Desired skills include leadership, administration, shepherding, and communication.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Help develop and champion a healthy culture of team-based servant-leadership.
    • Facilitate the strategic alignment of ministry staff and their departments with The Chapel’s mission, vision, and values.
    • Oversee and evaluate all components of ministry at The Chapel.
    • Establish and maintain key performance measures to provide the Lead Pastor and Elders with a continuous assessment of the effectiveness of all ministry areas.
    • Meets regularly with direct reports to provide leadership, oversight, and support.
    • Oversee the ministry staff organizational structure and ensure that The Chapel is staffed to properly live out the church mission, vision, and    values.
    • Foster professional development by identifying employee needs and encouraging continuing education opportunities.
    • Develop, manage, and ensure a leadership pipeline for pastors/directors, and interns/residents.
    • Oversee the pastoral licensure process.
    • Help develop a ministry staff meeting calendar that keeps everyone informed, connected, and moving forward.
    • Assist the Executive Director and Finance Department with the process of building and overseeing ministry budgets.
    • Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor and Executive Director for mentoring, encouragement, and evaluation.
    • Regularly communicates with Elders, Lead Pastor, Executive team, and pastors/directors on strategies and activities of ministries.

 

Pastoral Scope

  • Work alongside the Lead Pastor to pastor and shepherd the ministry staff and congregation.
    • Integrate into the life and people of the church.
    • Participate as a member of the teaching team and help shepherd the congregation through Sunday Worship Services, Bible classes, Membership, etc.
    • Participate with our pastoral staff to care well for the congregation including weddings, funerals, home visits, and being on-call several times a year.
    • Lead and oversee additional functions as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership: Experience in leading/organizing people to accomplish coordinated goals.
    • Administration: Good with details and managing a wide scope of people, information, and projects.
    • Shepherding: Great people skills; gentle in directive management/leadership of people
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Qualifications

  • Seasoned leader with 15+ years of church ministry experience
    • Seminary degree required
    • Experience leading in a church of 1000+ attendees/members
    • Experience leading a larger church staff
    • Must affirm The Chapel’s Doctrinal Statement and Core Distinctives
