Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced, ordained Pastor with the desire and motivation to lead Ardena Baptist Church through the next phase of our service to Christ and the community. In addition to Sunday services, the Pastor will be expected to teach/oversee the church’s weekly Bible studies and outreach activities. Other responsibilities include providing support to those seeking counsel and/or guidance, and visitation to shut-ins and the sick. The Pastor is expected to interact with the various church boards as well as to appreciate the importance of our history and traditions while blending in new elements that glorify God.

 

What We Offer:

A comprehensive compensation package includes a competitive salary range ($55-$75K, benefits included) commensurate with experience including a parsonage. Other benefits are provided “a la carte,” enabling the individual to match these benefits to his needs. Items in the benefits package include contributions to retirement, health insurance, and car allowance. Time off is offered as ‘Personal Time Off’ and can be used as sick time, vacation time, or personal time. Pastoral living is available in a newly renovated, two-story single-family home on the church property, all utilities included.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in ministry-related field. Master’s degree or willing to work towards a degree preferred.
  2. Align with and support our Articles of Faith and Constitution, and be Ordained
  3. Strong leadership skills to support and guide the church leaders, especially regarding the Priority Based Action Plan
  4. Ability to interact and communicate with the church members
  5. Align with and support our Articles of Faith
  6. Experience with youth, senior adults, and outreach programs
  7. Ability to examine God’s Word and to effectively communicate these truths in a variety of settings (i.e.: pulpit, community outreach, Bible studies, and one-on-one sessions)
  8. Ability to manage conflict and to foster healthy relationships
  9. Experience in expanding the Church’s recognition within the community
  10. Work proactively and positively with the current church renting our facilities to advance the Gospel together and separately and with any future renters.

 

Responsibilities:

Preaching and Teaching (40%)
1. Preach and teach the Word and have oversight of church service and the administration of the ordinances.
2. Teach adult Bible studies on a weekly basis
3. Provide preaching and teaching in other venues and opportunities, including social media.
4. Oversight of biblical education for the whole church in conjunction with the Christian Education Board

Church Leadership and Administration (20%)
1. Works with the Deacon board and other church leaders to maintain a Christ-like church culture, with a vibrant vision for the future, along with strategies to obtain it.
2. Identify, recruit, train, and encourage leaders in the church body.
3. Develop leaders to assist the Pastor in the ordinances of the church, as well as weddings, funerals, and other areas of care.
4. Ensuring that the church is up to date with leadership plans
5. An office schedule that permits members to meet with you
6. As the Pastor, provide administrative leadership on church committees, (per the church constitution).
7. In coordination with the Trustees, oversee and direct part-time support staff of the church, (Secretary and Janitor).

Discipleship, Shepherding and Prayer (20%)
1. Provide care for individuals and families in the church body and community through counseling, advising, and other pastoral care.
2. Help develop the church body’s personal and corporate prayer life.
3. Provide visitation to those who are unable to attend church
4. Oversee the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper
5. Conduct pastoral care and counseling to those in need

Community Involvement (20%)
1. Develop and maintain relationships in the community so that the church can meet community needs effectively and in Christ-like ways.
2. Lead community outreach efforts
3. Develop and maintain relationships with like-minded area clergy for greater fellowship among believers and coordinated community impact.
