First Baptist Church of Hawarden, IA, is a historic small-town church with a vision for outreach and growth. Though nearly 15,000 people live within 10 miles of First Baptist Church, over 4,000 people remain unchurched (thearda.com). FBC desires to fulfill the Great Commission in their local context and beyond by reaching new people with the good news of Jesus Christ and developing them in faith and service to Christ. Located next to the Big Sioux River, Hawarden enjoys access to one of the Midwest's best canoeing, fishing, and kayaking rivers as well as many great northwest Iowa and southeast South Dakota state parks and glacial lakes. Though Hawarden has many local shops, schools, amenities, and a great hospital, other shopping opportunities and services are not far away. Hawarden is located 45 minutes from the larger cities of Sioux City, IA, 45 minutes from Sioux Falls, SD, and 25 minutes from Sioux Center, IA. Over the past decade, many Spanish-speaking families have moved into the area, so a bi-lingual pastor or returning missionary who speaks English and Spanish could be a great fit for FBC. Though the church is smaller in number, they are resolved to grow and looking for a biblically qualified minister who will stay true to scripture while innovatively leading the congregation to reach the many unchurched and de-churched people throughout the region. Due to the former pastor retiring, FBC Hawarden desires to release a minister for the work of ministry and they encourage recent college/seminary grads and less-tenured ministers to apply through our online application portal.
