Job Description:

The full-time Pastor at Milestone Church plays a crucial role in shepherding the congregation towards spiritual maturity and discipleship while serving others. He provides visionary leadership, pastoral care, and sound biblical teaching to equip believers for ministry and outreach. This position functions like the Chairman of a board but is co-equal in decision making with the leadership team. The Pastor is expected to work closely with the leadership team in leading Milestone Church.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Preaching, Teaching and Discipleship:
  • Develop and deliver engaging, relevant sermons (approximately forty-eight times/year) that proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and are rooted in the Bible.
  • Provide systematic teaching of the Bible, helping individuals to understand and apply its principles to their lives.
  • Provide pastoral care to congregants when needed through counseling, prayer, and visitation.
  1. Spiritual Leadership:
  • Mentor and disciple individuals, encouraging spiritual growth and maturity.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a Christ-like character and servant-hearted, humble attitude by maintaining a strong personal relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and spiritual discipline.
  1. Vision Casting and Strategic Planning:
  • Communicate vision and work to build unity in the church by motivating the congregation to actively support the church's mission, vision, purpose, and direction.
  • Prayerfully collaborate with the leadership team to develop strategic plans for ministry growth, outreach, and discipleship.
  1. Local Community Engagement:
  • Build relationships within the community and help identify opportunities for the church to serve and make a positive impact.
  • Equip believers for evangelism and compassionate outreach initiatives.
  1. Equipping and Empowering Leaders:
  • Prayerfully recognize, train, and empower leaders within the congregation for ministry roles.
  • Provide guidance and support to ministry teams, encouraging creativity and excellence.
  1. Administration and Oversight:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the church, including staff supervision, and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and adherence to the church's governing policies.

 

Qualifications:

  • A passionate follower of Jesus Christ, with a deep commitment to personal spiritual growth and biblical integrity.
  • Preferred to have a theological education from a bible college or institution with beliefs and doctrine in accordance with Milestone's beliefs and practices.
  • Ordained or eligible for ordination in accordance with Milestone's beliefs and practices.
  • Experience in pastoral ministry, including  preaching, teaching, and shepherding.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey biblical teaching and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community members to achieve the church's mission and goals.
  • Demonstrates humility, resilience, and a servant-hearted attitude in ministry.
  • Has excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in strategic planning, administration, and team leadership.
  • Adherence to the Milestone’s Statement of Faith and core values of the church.
  • Meets biblical standards of 1 Tim 3:1-7
