Youth and Family Ministry Pastor Job Description
We are looking to hire a Youth and Family Ministry Pastor to oversee the areas of Children’s and Youth Ministries as well as assist pastoral leadership in all other areas of church development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing relationship with Him.
- Has a passion for youth, outreach, discipleship, and community building ministries
- Articulates and lives into a Gospel-centered, missional understanding of the church.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead by example, equip, and disciple youth and adults.
- Understands the needs of and has an affinity for young people.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient with computer applications and social media.
- Is teachable and open to feedback and accountability.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and partner with parents in the spiritual formation of their children, training and equipping them to have discussions with and to teach their children about God’s love for them, what it means to be a follower of Christ, and what it means to be part of a community of faith.
- Develop strong servants and the leadership staff by implementing dynamic recruiting, training, motivating, and support systems that will in turn be able to equip young disciples for the service of Christ.
- Work with and understand curriculums as needed to fit the vision and mission of Restoration Church.
- Provide leadership for radical hospitality at all times throughout the ministry for new visitors as well as regular attendee children and families.
- Promote growth through small group ministry for children.
- Create and deploy serving and mission experiences for children and for children with their families.
- Create and nurture a safe sanctuary environment for children and their families where they experience the love of God most powerfully through the relationships they build with one another and with the larger community of faith.
- Be proactive in researching, reading, and learning about/from other successful children’s and family ministry initiatives across the country.
YOUTH RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide visionary oversight and pastoral leadership to all aspects of the youth ministry of Restoration Church
- Provide overall pastoral care for the youth, encouraging their spiritual growth and challenging them to grow in their commitment to Christ and His mission.
- Identify, train, and support the leadership team.
- Invest in and nurture opportunities for youth leadership.
- Plan and coordinate youth events – examples: weekly meetings for junior and senior high youth, monthly fun events, outreach events, summer camp, annual mission trips, etc.
- Provide one-to-one mentoring of youth
- Lead a Christ-like lifestyle and pray regularly for those in the youth ministry and church body.
- Build and maintain relationships with parents of the youth.
- Oversee curriculum coordination and/or development
- Interact with students and leaders at Sunday morning gatherings as well as any church or community events.
- Prepare youth for life after secondary schooling.
- Embody and nurture the intergenerational vision held by Restoration Church.
- Connect regularly with children’s ministry leaders to maintain cohesion between ministries.
GENERAL PASTORAL DUTIES:
- Preach multiple times per year as assigned by Lead Pastor
- Potential to perform funerals and weddings as gifted.
- Prepare and oversee ministry and department budgets.
- Attend and participate in Worship weekly
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Practice generosity by tithing or working toward tithing
- Other job duties as assigned by Lead Pastor
The Youth and Family Ministry Pastor position is a full-time salary exempt position and may work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and public holidays, and on short notice. As a member of the Ministry Team, he/she is supervised by the Lead Pastor.
