Calvary Baptist Church (CBC) of Platte, SD, is a stable and gospel-driven church that desires to sustain church health and attain healthy church growth. The church reaches people from a 25-mile radius that is home to a population of over 16,000, of which 3,000 are unchurched (TheArda.com). CBC runs about 100 people on Sundays and 120 for a midweek children's ministry, has an annual budget of $257,000, owns a freshly renovated facility on a 10-acre campus, and is strongly engaged in local, regional, and global missions. Located in south central South Dakota and next to many Missouri River recreational opportunities, Platte represents the cultural crossroads where farming meets ranching. As a regional resourcing community, Platte draws educated younger families to work in ag-related businesses. Though Platte boasts many locally-owned amenities, larger cities in the region with more shopping options are Mitchell, SD (1-hour drive), Sioux Falls, SD (2-hour drive), and Rapid City, SD (3-hour drive). Their current Pastor has served very well but is now relocating to be near family. CBC is going through a healthy leadership transition and is looking for a godly man who will work with the elders to shepherd the church. Furthermore, they seek a pastor who will champion outreach, model pastoral care, engage the community, and help structure ministry for sustained health and future growth. Job Description

Feed the Church

• Preach and teach God's Word with accuracy, clarity, conviction, and relevance.
• Teach God's Word from the pulpit and in smaller group settings.

Lead the Church

• Together with the elders, provide leadership and direction for the church within the guidelines of the church's Constitution.
• Incorporate the church's mission and vision in his preaching and teaching.
• Model local outreach and evangelism, reaching the unchurched and discipling new believers.
• Model a heart for regional and world missions.
• Ensure the equipping and encouragement of ministry volunteers and emerging leaders.
• Evaluate and ensure that CBC's ministry structure fulfills the church's mission and vision.
• Has administrative skills and can direct, delegate, and supervise.
• Maintain doctrinal integrity and agreement with CBC, as outlined in the Doctrinal Statement and Convictions Statement.
• Ensure the doctrinal clarity and discipleship of CBC children and youth.
• Maintain a commitment to church health and healthy growth.
  
  

Care for the Church

• Love the congregation as Christ loves the Church.
• Competent in conflict resolution and able to provide pastoral counseling as needed.
• Ensure a congregational care structure that ministers to the sick, shut-ins, grieving, etc.
• Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications, and other services.

Represent the Church

• Ensure visitor follow-up, regular membership classes, and assimilation into CBC church life.
• AWANA is a community-wide ministry led by CBC, and the Pastor's active support is necessary.
• Maintain a relationship with the Platte Ministerial Association and community youth ministry.
• Serve as a representative for CBC with Converge Worldwide and the Converge Heartland District.
