Purpose
Graceway Presbyterian Church is a predominantly second generation, English-speaking Korean-American congregation of families with a growing multicultural and diverse young adult population. The aim of the candidate is to nurture and grow our young adult members at Graceway Presbyterian Church. The pastor will primarily focus on growing and caring for young adults (approximately 22 - 35 years old), comprising single individuals and young couples without children.

Key job responsibilities
1. Proactively cultivates the spiritual health of the young adult community, including but not exclusive to attending the young adult small group, taking active interest in one-on-one discipleship, organizing social events, and experimenting with other creative means to nurture the spiritual health of young adults.
2. Develop and grow the young adult ministry through community outreach to others in the area, such as networking with local central New Jersey college ministries and parachurch organizations and/or actively following up with young adult visitors.
3. Active participation in monthly session and staff meetings, annual retreats, and weekly prayer meetings.
4. Engage in preaching and teaching responsibilities, including but not limited to preaching to the broader congregation, teaching adult education classes, and speaking in other large group settings.
About the role
This full-time position pays between $60,000 to $80,000 per year and includes full benefits (medical, dental, vision). Graceway also provides full-time staff with an expense budget to find and pursue other personal/career growth opportunities, e.g. annual conferences or seminars covering topics of ministry interest.
Qualifications
Education:
M.Div or equivalent theological training
Experience:
Required: Minimum two years of experience working with young adults and/or college students
Preferred: Candidate has worked in second generation immigrant ministry contexts or in a multicultural ministry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is a strong witness to the Christian faith, and wants to share the depth and breadth of the Gospel with young adults and young couples through discipleship and community outreach.
- Possesses the energy of a self-starter who takes initiative and responsibility for developing a fledgling ministry. This includes strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to brainstorm and lead events and activities, as well as the patience and flexibility to navigate the surprises of a growing ministry.
- Comfortable navigating broad questions that arise in a multicultural young professional context, especially in areas of faith and work, relationship, and social and political questions.
- Broad alignment with the Reformed tradition.
- Enjoys being with young adults.
