Job Title: Production Director

Department: Programming

Direct Report: Justin McCain, Director of Programming

  1. Summary of the position:
    The production director is responsible for pastoring and developing the Production Team at Transformation Church. You will oversee and direct the execution of the vision that Transformation Church has for our live production in the areas of audio, video, lighting, staging, and online broadcast.

  2. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership and pastoral care to the whole Production Team by cultivating and maintaining a

      shepherding relationship with Team Leads and Team Coaches within Production.

    • Oversee all operations, including: providing direction to production leaders; implementing and maintaining

      policies regarding systems, training methods, workflows, team structure, etc.; system-wide equipment maintenance and management; leadership development structure and methods; interdepartmental projects; and long-term planning

    • Clearly communicate department vision to production leaders and Serve Team

    • Provide clear written and verbal direction to production staff and Serve Team in regards to assignments, job

      expectations, and vision, while freely delegating tasks and projects

    • Oversee and manage production projects, including system upgrades, repairs, and installation, to ensure

      high levels of quality, preparation, and interdepartmental communication

    • Ensure maintenance of all production project budgets, purchases, service-related documents

      (troubleshooting guides, “how-to” guides, checklists, error logs, etc.)

    • Focus on development and health of production leadership development structure for new leaders; training

      methods and practices for new and current team members; and ministry/appreciation culture for production

      teams

    • Serve as primary troubleshooting and management contact for production systems in all rooms and

      buildings, including: updating hardware, software, and equipment firmware; regularly cleaning and maintaining projectors and other equipment; and loading and programming content for services and events into computers and other devices.

    • Manage all production operations for all events and services; oversee Serve Team recruitment, training, interviews, and scheduling; coordinate service operations; and liaise with other departments and teams for service/event preparation

    • Maintain schedule of events to ensure that all production needs are met and events are staffed with appropriate production personnel

    • Grow and develop Production coaches and Team leads to take ownership and leadership of their respective groups with regard to training, recruitment, care, and operations.

    • Work with vendors/contractors to repair or troubleshoot technical issues

    • Regularly nurture and develop relationships with existing vendors

    • Regularly engage in communication with all pastors and production team coaches

    • Engage in regular weekly meeting schedule with Production department staff/Serve Team members under

      supervisor’s oversight to communicate responsibilities, upcoming projects, vision items, and updates

III. Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Research and maintain creative ideas and current techniques.

  • Respond to emails and phone calls within 24 hours.

  • Network with other churches’ production teams and leaders.

  1. Experience and Knowledge Required:

    • Proficient in Google Suite and Planning Center.

    • Proven ability to develop specific goals, prioritize, organize, and accomplish objectives.

    • Exceptional networking skills, event planning, managing a calendar and facilities.

    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

    • Passion for the Church, vision, people, and serving.

    • Discretion with confidential matters.

    • Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

    • Minimum One (1-5) years experience in live production or broadcast environment

    • Working knowledge of all aspects of live production: audio (FOH and broadcast), lighting, multimedia, music,

      and staging.

    • Experience in team-building and team management.

    • Experience with budget administration and project management.

    • Excellent understanding of audio programs and languages: Ableton and other DAWs, Waves, Dante, MIDI,

      etc.

    • Excellent understanding of video software and hardware: Blackmagic, ProPresenter, Resi, etc.

    • Excellent understanding of lighting networks and equipment.

    • Some graphic and video editing skills are preferred.

    • Proficiency with MacOS and Windows.

    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

    • Relational and team-building skills.
