Worship Leader

PURPOSE:  To assist the Follow Pastor in the administration of the worship department.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Personal

1. Develop and maintain a personal relationship with Christ with attention given to a consistent prayer and devotional life.
2. Faithfulness in giving through tithes and offerings.
3. Maintain a personal lifestyle of integrity consistent with First Assembly’s beliefs and practices.

Professional

1. Answer directly to the Follow Pastor.
2. Maintain a positive attitude.
3. Maintain a high level of excellence.
4. Work cooperatively with First Assembly staff and volunteers.
5. Maintain confidences and loyalties to all staff members.
6. Be informed about the personnel policies of First Assembly.

Desired Skill Set

1. Strong vocal ability
2. Proficient in piano or guitar
3. Able to lead from piano or guitar
4. 3-5 years’ experience leading worship
5. Proficient in Ableton or Mainstage
6. Ability to read traditional music as well as chord charts a plus

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Worship Leading

1. Lead worship for services and events as scheduled.
2. Take responsibility for pastoral care of the worship team members i.e. prayer, assessing needs and connecting individuals to resources available, fellowship activities, etc.
3. Choose set lists in coordination with co-leaders for worship services.
4. Lead rehearsals as scheduled.
5. Maintain consistent communication with team members.
6. Work cooperatively with the tech team for stage set up and technical needs.

Worship Management

1. Schedule worship teams for Sundays and special events through Planning Center.
2. Maintain Planning Center database for the worship department.
3. Work to incorporate worship software into the department like Abelton, Mainstage, etc.
4. Audition and organize multiple worship teams on an annual basis and as needed throughout the season.
5. Plan quarterly Worship Leader Meetings.
6. Identify and recruit individuals to serve on worship teams across all the life stage ministries. i.e. Early Childhood, Kids, Youth, Young Adults, Adults, Seniors
7. Work with the worship leader team to identify new songs and maintain a song database consistent with First Assembly’s theology and vision as directed by the lead pastor with a multi-generational appeal.
8. Work to gain, train, and maintain worship team members.

Creative Arts (as requested by the Follow Pastor)

1. Assist with creative planning for weekend services and special events: Christmas, Easter, Merge services, etc.
2. Assist with specialty teams for special events: dance, drama, etc.
3. Assist with creative ideas for potential video projects for sermon series, etc.
