Student Pastor

Sheets Memorial Baptist Church strives offers a student and family ministry that is biblically faithful and relevant, reaching and discipling the next generation.

Purpose: The Student Pastor is responsible for developing and leading the college and student ministries and providing oversight to the children’s and nursery ministries. He must develop a ministry plan consistent with the overall church mission and vision, and effectively implement this plan. This individual is expected to be gifted with leadership, teambuilding, and organizational skills to effectively lead family ministries.

Qualifications:

1. Possess a personal relationship with Christ and a clear call to Christian ministry.
2. Be ordained by a Baptist church or meet the qualifications of a pastor as presented in 1 Timothy 3.1-7 and Titus 1.6-9 and willing to pursue ordination.
3. Demonstrate a commitment to personal discipleship expressed in a positive Christian witness.
4. Possess the desire to reach the lost and unchurched.
5. Express a clear affirmation of the Sheets Memorial Baptist Church Articles of Faith (available at https://sheetsmemorial.org/beliefs/).
6. Be a member committed to the purpose of the church and concern for the needs of church members.
7. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all age groups.
8. Possess the ability to lead and administrate in an effective manner.
9. Possess the ability to work as an effective member of the staff.
10. Possess the ability to handle confidential matters appropriately.
11. Be a visionary leader, able to take initiative in ministry.

Responsibilities:

1. Work with the Lead Pastor to communicate and pursue the vision and mission of the church through student ministry.
2. Train and recruit volunteers for efficient implementation of student ministry.
3. Provide counseling to youths and parents and help them realize their individual goals.
4. Administer and plan numerous youth programs like evangelism, retreats, and Bible study sessions.
5. Coordinate with parents of youth group members regarding their children’s involvement and participation in the church.
6. Assist in organizing and compiling of Sunday school curriculum.
7. Participate and contribute to staff, deacons, and church meetings.
8. Train students on how to be future faith-filled leaders and set up programs to facilitate spiritual growth.
9. Maintain a regular presence at Sheets Memorial Christian School and develop relationships with students (note: the student pastor does not teach or have official responsibilities within Sheets Memorial Christian school).
10. Develop and maintain effective relationships with various leaders in the community for purposes of swift outreach programs.
11. Plan or assist in planning church events.
12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Terms of Employment:

Responsible to the Lead Pastor. The Student Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor, reporting to him for responsibility, guidance, and evaluation.

Full-time, exempt.

Compensation package commensurate with experience.
