Job Description:

Summary:

The youth director pastor at Northside Christian Church is a full time position. The youth pastor will work closely with the staff/leadership at Northside to create a meaningful and effective ministry to students and their parents. We believe it is  incredibly important for the youth pastor to have a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus that reflects Him, His truth, and His design. 

Primary responsibilities

  1. Plan and coordinate MS/HS youth ministry Programs. Four major groups. 
    1. Middle school students
    2. High school students
    3. Youth volunteers/staff 
    4. Parents/families
  2. Plan and lead activities for students that provide the right environments to help them grow in their relationships with each other, youth leaders, and with God. 
    1. Retreats, camps, mission trips, activities. We believe these things play a large role in the spiritual growth of our students. 
    2. Provide small groups and leadership development opportunities for students. 
  3. Recruit and train the appropriate number of youth leaders/volunteers (not Chaperones) that will minister to/with students.  
    1. This involves training and giving away meaningful ministry roles. 
  4. Teach God’s Word in consistent and powerful/relatable ways with students. This needs to be a priority.
  5. Provide opportunities for kids to experience worship in age appropriate ways.  
  6. Provide places and spaces for youth to develop community. 
  7. Have a strong presence in schools: support NS students by attending games/meaningful moments. This is also an opportunity to meet parents, our student’s friends, teachers… 
  8. Help to maintain and develop the team culture at Northside. 
  9. Be an active part of the community, finding ways to engage in the lives of those who don’t yet know Jesus. 

Secondary responsibilities

  1. Preach from time to time (3-4 times a year).
  2. Participate in developing the leadership culture at Northside
  3. Assist in coming beside ministry team leaders at Northside as assigned. 
  4. Potentially lead a small group 
  5. Play a leadership role (under associate) in events (MAYBE) 
  6. Develop and oversee Northside's local outreach strategy. (MAYBE)
  7. Potentially oversee children’s ministry (MAYBE)
  8. Potentially college/young adults (MAYBE)

Skills required:

  1. Communication 
  2. Planning/administration in appropriate and timely ways 
  3. Recruiting/developing/training leaders 
  4. Ability to start and finish tasks without constant oversight 
  5. Strong grasp of Scripture

Compensation:

Annual salary up to 50,000 based on experience.
