JOB TITLE: Discipleship Pastor

REPORTS TO: Executive Pastor 

The Discipleship Pastor of Parkview Church will oversee all facets of the spiritual growth and maturity of the adults in the body of Christ. They will provide vision and direction to all adult discipleship ministries while working with volunteers to implement various strategies designed for spiritual growth. As a member of the pastoral team and by working directly with the Executive Pastor, the Discipleship Pastor will lead and empower God’s people to fulfill the church’s mission of guiding people to life change in Christ.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement and manage a comprehensive Discipleship Strategy based on “Gather, Grow, Go.”
• Ensure sound doctrine is maintained in all adult teaching environments of the church.
• Ability to create and produce weekly sermon-based group discussion material for groups.
• Produce, lead, and implement appropriate church-wide events that promote and complement the Discipleship Pipeline.
• Develop and oversee an effective discipleship process with special attention on adult Life Groups that will grow the Life Group ministry and increase the percentage of church members actively participating in Life Groups
• Identify, train, and equip new Life Group leaders for Parkview Church and oversee their development process.
• Develop, coach, and conduct monthly 1-on-1 meetings with direct reports and hold regular department meetings.
• Produce annual Ministry Action Plan and budget. 
• Consistently be involved in 1-on-1 discipleship engagements with men of all ages. 
• Oversees the process of baptisms.
• Support the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor by leading various ministerial services such as weddings, baptisms, funerals, and hospital visits

Experience and Expected Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience as a Discipleship Pastor of a church with a similar or larger scope and style. 
• Ordained Minister. 
• Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
• Be a proven leader who brings spiritual depth and understanding of Scripture when speaking from the stage or when providing professional training.
• A humble leader who derives pleasure from others empowered rather than seeking the spotlight.
• Be a motivated team-builder with a heart for your team and volunteers.
• Working knowledge of Google Suite, Planning Center Groups, RightNow Media, and Parkview’s AVL systems
• Detail-oriented - will provide detailed notes in Planning Center People when engaging in leadership development and personal interactions with Parkview attendees. 
• Skilled in process improvement and project management.
• Hard-working, but know how to have a good time.
• Must live a life beyond reproach according to 1 Timothy 3.
• Maintain personal accountability and relationships with staff members.
• Ensure the mission and values of Parkview are clearly communicated and supported for volunteer teams, including all aspects of team members, team leaders, coaches, and directors. 

About Parkview Church

Founded in 2007, Parkview had its humble beginnings in a rented ballroom at a local hotel. The church had 140 in attendance on day one of its opening, and in the first year of its existence, church attendance never dipped below 100. Due to another church meeting in the ballroom adjacent to the church’s worship space, the noise interference prompted the church to search for another worship space in the community. For almost a decade, the church met in a rented movie theater, with kids meeting in the theater next door. 

One year into Parkview’s existence, its members sacrificed to purchase eight acres of prime real estate in town for just $70,000. It would take Parkview Church almost ten years to build its first 200-seat auditorium. For the next 15 years, the church would add to its existing building space three more times. In 2022, the church broke ground on a 15,000-square-foot auditorium with a seating capacity of 720 seats. Currently, Parkview Church averages a weekend attendance of over 1,400. The church holds a high reputation in our town due to its outreach to the community through its food pantry, clothes closet, and service to first responders and schools. In addition, the church sponsors Christmas gifts for over 300 families for the holidays, and the church is also involved in disaster relief in hurricane-devastated areas.

The purpose of Parkview is to guide people to the next step in their spiritual journey. Next steps include making a spiritual commitment, baptism, joining the church or a Bible study, or joining a service team. The church's objective is to model and live its core values of worship, truth, connectedness, grace, and generosity. Its mission is to guide people to life change in Christ through its strategy of Gather, Grow, Go.
