Job Description:

We are seeking an Associate Pastor, whose primary responsibility is to engage Downtown Baptist Orlando (DBO) into meaningful ministry for Christ on a weekly basis. The Associate Pastor will assist the Senior Pastor in most of the ministry areas with oversight into connection groups and outreach efforts. He will have an active role in planning, and in the execution of ministries and events. This will be a vital position for the growth our church.

Reports To:
The Associate Pastor will report to Senior Pastor.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with the Senior Pastor in planning and leading corporate, Christ-centered, theologically sound ministries.

• Will attend and participate in all worship services and events.
• Will stand in for the Senior pastor when called upon.
• Will help in growing and expanding our contemporary service (The Worship Experience).

• Will work with connection group leaders to organize events, studies, and programs.
• Will have a lead role in outreach events and ministries to fulfill our church’s mission of “Connecting Jesus with Orlando.”
• Will assist in pastoral care ministries.
• Will work with our Digital Media Coordinator to create content for our social media platforms.
• Organize and manage personnel, resources, and facilities for the ministries related to this position.
• Make budget recommendations related to ministries that involve oversight from the associate pastor.
• Maintain a flexible schedule. Worship times along with other ministries and events are included in the approximated 15-20 hours a week. This would include office hours on a flexible schedule and can be coordinated with the Senior Pastor.
• Provide counsel for and to help coordinate for funerals and weddings (upon request).
• Will be responsible to find a replacement when you will be out due to vacation or other reasons.
• Will be an active participant in the planning of church events, functions, and ministries.

• Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
• Assist the staff in providing care to the congregation as needed.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.

Education, Skills, Characteristics, Qualifications

• Must be able to lead, shepherd, and manage various ministries.
• Must possess clear and concise communication skills.
• Must be able to promote the vision of DBO for continued growth, improvement, and enhancement of our ministries.
• Must have a shepherd’s heart.
• Must exhibit and practice the work of an evangelist to connect people to Jesus.
• Must be computer literate and have some working knowledge or familiarity with Microsoft Office and different types of social media platforms.
• Must be organized and able to manage several ongoing tasks, possessing good people skills, be self-motivated, and able to work well individually as well as in a team setting.
• Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must be a mature growing Christian actively involved in a denominationally like-minded church.
• Must be aligned with the church’s mission and vision statement as well as our statement of beliefs, The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (BFM 2000).
• Must be willing to become a tithing-member of DBO.

Job Type

• Part-time (15-20 hours per week*).
• Schedule:
  • Workdays: Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays
    • Fulfillment hours to be arranged with the Senior Pastor.
  • *hours/schedule may vary depending upon scheduled events/meetings as well as necessary time needed to fulfill job expectations.

Salary and Benefits:

• $28,000-33,000 yearly (based upon experience & qualifications).
• Compensation for conducting funerals and wedding.
