Youth Director

SCOPE OF WORK

At Real Life we are passionate about the next generation. With the constant barrage of information and influential voices our middle school and high school students receive, there is a great need for people who are willing to invest in the strength and maturity of the youth of Spokane, by stepping up and helping them grow. We want to work with passion and determination to raise up the next generation of Jesus’ church from within our youth ministry.

If you have a deep-rooted passion for reaching the world for Jesus one person at a time, if you have a burden for students to come to grow in relationship with Jesus, and if you have a hunger to raise up and equip the next generation of disciple makers in Jesus’ church, read on!

The Youth Director at Real Life Spokane carries the mission of disciple-making to the next generation. This role is essential to the maturity of our church and the continual process of growing and raising up leaders for the future of the church. This role will involve leading a team of people to connect with students all around our city through weekly youth events and relational connections throughout the week in order to disciple them toward maturity in Christ.

  • Not included in that doctrinal statement is that we are complementarian. At Real Life this means we do not ordain women as pastors or elders, nor do they preach on Sundays, but women can and do occupy all other levels of leadership within our church.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

YOUTH CONNECTION

• Create a high-energy connective environment for students (6th-12th grades).
• Maintain alignment of the student ministry with the overall vision of Real Life Spokane to reach the world for Jesus one person at a time.
• Organize and plan events, camps, and retreats for students to engage with.
• Recruit and develop leaders to relationally invest in students’ lives.
• Train students to engage with the mission of Jesus at school and Real Life.
• Create places for students to serve and engage in the mission of Jesus.
• Help move students from Sundays to youth connection nights to groups, and students from youth connection nights to groups to Sundays.
• Connect with parents of students to maintain communication and invite the parents to take their next steps with Jesus.

STAFF ROLE

• Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings and trainings and participate in discussions and collaborative activities.
• Lead a weekly connect group and/or men’s group.
• Attend all Sunday services and connect with people during each service.
• Assist with the monthly 101 membership class.
• Attend and wholeheartedly complete our 6 month Real Life Residency.
• As part of the youth director role, you will begin the ordination process immediately upon hire.If you have already been ordained, you will begin the process of transferring your ordination to Real Life Spokane.

VOLUNTEERING

As an employee of Real Life Spokane, any time spent during your normal work hours or fulfilling your job description duties for the specific ministry area you are a part of will be considered hours worked and you will be compensated for those hours. If you desire to volunteer in another area of ministry and it falls outside of your normal working hours, you can do so.

COMPENSATION

Employment start date: TBD

Hourly Rate: Annual salary range of $55,000-65,000 DOE 

Benefits: Vacation and Sick time accrues annually with up to 3 weeks of paid vacation annually, $500/mo medical stipend, matching contributions up to 3% in SIMPLE IRA.
