Ministry Role:

The Student Pastor is charged with the spiritual guidance and growth of students from 6th to 12th grade within the NorthField community. Rooted in NorthField’s mission to “Love God, Love People, and Make Jesus Known,” the Student Pastor will lead initiatives, programs, and events aimed at cultivating a nourishing spiritual environment for middle and high school students. This role is pivotal in fostering relationships with students and their families, ensuring the ongoing alignment of the student ministry with the overall mission and values of NorthField.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: Executive Pastor

The Student Pastor will operate under the guidance and supervision of the Executive Pastor, ensuring that the activities, teachings, and programs of the NorthField Students department are harmoniously integrated within the broader vision and operational framework of the church. Regular communication, collaboration, and alignment with the Executive Pastor and other relevant stakeholders will be crucial for maintaining cohesiveness across various church ministries.

Objective:

The Student Pastor will drive the overall vision and mission of NorthField Student Ministry, focusing on discipleship of middle and high school students, developing and sustaining student ministry volunteers, and partnering with parents to foster students' growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Serve as the Team Lead to facilitate spiritual leadership, strategic visioning, and administrative oversight, ensuring the fulfillment of NorthField Student Ministry’s vision. Contribute to a team-oriented mentality amongst the NorthField Staff and participate in all collaborative events/activities.
  • Spiritual Leadership: Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students and their families, fostering spiritual growth through effective communication of God’s Word across multiple platforms.
  • Strategic Visioning: Develop and execute strategies for effective discipleship of students, leadership development, volunteer recruitment, and community collaboration.
  • Administrative Oversight: Guide the planning and execution of regular and special ministry events, ensuring effective communication and management of ministry calendar and budget.
  • Program Development: Oversee the creation and implementation of age-appropriate Sunday and midweek programming to support the spiritual growth of students in 6th-12th grades.
  • Volunteer Experience: Optimize the volunteer experience through approachable presence, regular communication, and relevant training, focusing on recruitment, development, and retention.
  • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain a NorthField Student Ministry presence at community and school events, building strategic relationships with community leaders to enhance NorthField’s community involvement.
  • Pastoral Care: Respond to various pastoral needs including crisis response, performing ceremonies, and making sick visits.
  • Miscellaneous Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior/Executive Pastor.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience in leading student teaching, discipling, and cultivating ministry environments; experience with a group size of ~100.
  • Previous experience leading a ministry through a team of volunteers is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, G Suite, iWork/Microsoft 365, Canva, Dropbox.

Skills:

  • Passionate about student growth and displays a strong love for God.
  • Strong verbal, written, and administrative communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with emerging generations while maintaining credibility with previous ones.
  • High EQ; people-oriented with a value for customer service and teamwork.

  • Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
