Job Summary:
The Associate Pastor of Temple Baptist Church will play a crucial role in leading and shepherding the youth and music ministry. This individual will work closely with the Senior Pastor and other church leaders to develop and implement effective strategies for nurturing and guiding our youth and cultivating a vibrant worship experience through music. The Associate Pastor will serve as a spiritual mentor, teacher, and facilitator, providing pastoral care, organizing youth activities, leading worship, and coordinating music-related events.
Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program that fosters spiritual growth, discipleship, and community among the youth.
- Plan and lead engaging and relevant Bible studies, small groups, retreats, camps, and outreach events for youth.
- Provide guidance and counseling to youth, offering spiritual support and addressing their unique needs.
- Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to assist in the youth ministry activities.
- Collaborate with parents and families to create a supportive network that encourages their involvement and participation in the spiritual formation of their children.
Music Ministry:
- Lead and oversee the music ministry, including selecting appropriate worship songs, coordinating rehearsals, and directing musical performances during church services and special events.
- Nurture a culture of worship and excellence in music, encouraging the congregation to engage in heartfelt worship.
- Develop and mentor musicians, vocalists and choir member cultivating their talents and fostering a spirit of teamwork within the music ministry.
- Explore and introduce new styles and genres of music that resonate with the congregation, while maintaining the theological integrity and traditions of the church.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor in planning and executing worship services and special music events.
Pastoral Duties:
- Assist the Senior Pastor in conducting regular pastoral duties, including preaching, teaching, and administering ordinances (baptism and Lord’s Supper).
- Provide pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual guidance to church members as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, leadership retreats, and other church-related activities.
- Support and contribute to the overall vision, mission, and values of the church.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as theology, ministry, or music.
- Ordination from a Baptist church is preferred.
- A deep passion for working with youth and guiding them in their spiritual journey.
- Proficiency in leading worship and directing music teams.
- Strong biblical knowledge and theological grounding, adhering to the principles and beliefs of Baptist doctrine.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with youth, parents, volunteers, and congregants of all ages.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities, with the capacity to plan and execute youth and music ministry programs effectively.
- A servant's heart, characterized by humility, compassion, and a commitment to serving others.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, under the guidance of the Senior Pastor.
