CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COORDINATOR - MOUNTAIN CHAPEL METHODIST CHURCH

Mountain Chapel Methodist Church is a Global Methodist Church located in the Birmingham/Vestavia, Alabama area. The church sees around 150 in attendance. The church’s children’s ministry, known as Mountain Chapel Kids, is offered on Sunday mornings (Sunday
School and Children’s Church) and evenings (MCK Sunday Night).
The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Elementary Ministry Coordinator to oversee the elementary ministry. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s
overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities the church has identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the Mountain Chapel Kids Ministry (kindergarten-5th grade).
- Provide primary leadership for Children’s Ministry projects and events.
- Recruit, equip, care for, and develop current and future volunteers.
- Ensure the volunteers are scheduled and staffed to support children’s ministry events, primarily Sunday.
- Work with Children’s Ministry Team to plan, recruit, and execute special events (Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, etc…)
- Collaborate with ministry staff to foster a Family Ministry approach.
- Be the primary connector between Mountain Chapel and families with children.
- Ensure the children’s environment remains inviting to children and families and is also supportive of all volunteer responsibilities.
- Ensure that all Large and Small Groups are implemented with excellence.
- Ensure the welcome experience for new and regular families is excellent.
- Ensure all Ministry Safe policies are read, understood, and implemented by volunteers.
- Clearly communicate verbally and in writing on an individual basis, in small group settings, and in large group settings. This relates specifically to communicating vision and may extend to other teaching and communication avenues.

- Education
- A bachelor’s degree in a relative field is preferred, though not required.
- Experience
- Experience working with children, preferably in a church setting.
