Discipleship Pastor Job Description:

Purpose:

Living Hope Church is a dynamic Assembly of God Church in Northwest Indiana area that is seeking a fulltime Discipleship Pastor, to lead a comprehensive and progressive strategy for spiritual formation and Biblical knowledge within the church. The LHC Discipleship Pastor creates and maintains a systematic discipleship program that executes the making of disciples/disciple makers and encourages Christian maturity. In collaboration with the Senior Pastor, pastoral staff, and lay leaders, the role of the Discipleship Pastor is key to cultivating an ongoing congregational culture of discipleship, spiritual growth & development.

Essential Functions:

Discipleship Program

• Develop and implement a comprehensive discipleship/spiritual formation system outside of Sunday to 
help create fully devoted followers of Christ that incorporates training sessions, small groups, large group 
gatherings, classes, and online tools
• Oversee the welcome and assimilation process, moving guests and new believers through their initial 
church experiences and introductory classes to volunteer engagement, membership, and ministry 
leadership
• Recruit, train, and deploy volunteer leaders needed to lead small groups and other discipleship initiatives.
• Develop a strategy to effectively communicate the importance of discipleship to the church through 
Sunday morning gatherings, special events, newsletters, online communications etc.
• Oversee content of next step classes/orientations, small group resources and other discipleship initiatives.
Pastoral Shepherding
• Support the Senior Pastor in teaching as well as the development and direction of sermon series and 
spiritual growth of the congregation
• Meet with members of the congregation and community for pastoral care & direction
• Commit to prayer and intercession
• Offer pastoral input and discernment to spiritual matters, directions, and conversations of the Church
• Respond to family and community tragedies with care and comfort

Qualifications:

• Evidences a solid and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• This position holds elder authority; therefore, candidates should meet the requirements for elder from 
Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-16).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, biblical studies or related degree.
• Experience: Preferred 3+ years in vocational ministry. Part-time and full-time experience will be 
considered.
• Agrees with the Statement of Faith of LHC and the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God.
Agrees to a background check by our search team during hiring process.
• Is licensed or agrees to pursue licensing/ordination with the Indiana District of the Assemblies of God.

• Possesses a background in media/social media.
