Job Description:

Glasgow Evangelical Church (GEC) in Glasgow, Montana is looking to hire a Director of Children's Ministry.  Could you be the one for this ministry position?

Purpose:  To administer all of the Glasgow Evangelical Church (GEC) programs for children ranging in ages from newborn through 5th grade, ensuring that all programs and activities are designed to lead children into a lifelong relationship with Jesus, equipping them with the necessary tools to live the Gospel joyously.  This also includes administering programs that encourage the core values of Christian family life and Christian parenting.

This is a full-time position, averaging 40-50-hours a week (Flextime is allowed, consistent with assigned duties during the year.)  Holidays, vacation, and sick leave are provided in accordance with GEC Policies.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. VOLUNTEERS: Recruit, train, coordinate, organize, and supervise volunteers for all GEC Children’s Ministry (CM) programs and events.
  2. PROGRAMS: Plan, organize, and supervise all GEC Children’s Ministry (CM) programs and events.  CM programs include the following:
    1. Sunday Morning Children’s Church
    2. Wednesday Nights
    3. Nursery
    4. Special Children’s Events
    5. Kid’s Worship Team
    6. Children’s Christmas Program
    7. Summer Camp
  3. PARENTS: Coordinate and provide discipleship and outreach to parents with the goal of helping families train their children, hear the Gospel, grow in their faith, develop their gifts and do God’s work. 
  4. OTHER GENERAL DUTIES:
    1. Constantly evaluate the purpose and function of all CM programs and events.
    2. Coordinate sanitation and safety protocols
    3. Use appropriate child development knowledge to best meet the needs of GEC’s children in curriculum selection, activities, discipline, classroom settings, etc.
    4. Communicate the needs of the CM program’s to other staff and church leaders as appropriate.
    5. Participate in Job Performance Reviews led by an organized Review Committee and the Lead Pastor
    6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor and/or Campus Coordinator that contribute to the fulfillment of GEC’s mission. Participate in church events/church services as assigned or requested.
    7. Office Administrative Expectations (i.e. Monthly receipts, Annual Budget, Annual reports)

Accountability: 

  1. Supervision – Lead Pastor
  2. Performance Review – Performance Review Committee (as chosen by the Pastor Parish); and Lead Pastor (semi-annually to annually)

Personal Qualification Requirements:

  1. Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and desire to walk in holiness (1 Timothy 3)
  2. Love for children and desire to see them grow in Christ (Matthew 19:14)
  3. Good communication, computer, leadership, and organizational skills (Colossians 3:23)
  4. Sense of God’s call to ministry at Glasgow Evangelical Church (Colossians 3:23-24)
  5. Able to be a self-starter and be personally motivated (2 Timothy 1:6)
  6. Desire to be a life-long learner, remain accountable to a group of his choice (James 5:16, Galatians 6:2)

Professional Qualification Requirements:

  1. Knowledge and experience in Biblical interpretation, child development (and faith development) and religious education.
  2. Maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
  3. Accountable with church resources.
  4. Committed to ongoing education and skill development.
  5. Understand and support the purpose, mission, and doctrine of GEC (as stated in the Discipline and the Annual Report).
  6. Willingness to become commissioned at the denominational level.

Experience Required: 

Five years of experience in Children’s Ministry—OR—Two years of experience and a degree in Christian Ministries or the Education field.
