Job Description:

The High School Pastor provides pastoral oversight to Worship Center’s high school students. This person should have a passion for team-led, multi-tiered discipleship ministry. The High School Pastor will develop a team that is multi-generational to serve our students, helping them discover their purpose in Christ. 

 

Schedule

Full-time salaried position, Sunday-Thursday. Includes Wednesday evenings and other times for meetings, activities, trips, and retreats.

 

Experience & Abilities

  1. Education: Bible College/ Seminary degree in youth ministry preferred.
  2. Experience: Must possess prior experience in developing teen-oriented programs and curriculum, have a proven track record of positive teen interactions, and have a history of good interactions with parents of teens—management experience with teams and large groups.
  3. License/Certification: Willingness to be Licensed by Worship Center Ministers Network.
  4. Specific Abilities: Comfortable with handling various student issues and communicating possible concerns to parents. Effective team player attitude that cooperates with various Worship Center departments. 

 

What This Person Does

  1. Continue to develop and steward a philosophy of ministry that encourages students to Grow, Serve and Be More Like Jesus. 
    1. Present the Word of God in a clear and relevant manner that values discipleship over entertainment. Curriculum will be in line with what is developed by the student ministry team.
    2. Provide regular opportunities for students to be involved in serving at Worship Center and in our community.
    3. Encourage students regularly to become more like Jesus in their words, actions, and character.
  2. Maintain a high presence, low responsibility role for 5th through 8th graders.
  3. Develop and pursue close partnerships with families.  
  4. Prepare schedule and budget with the student ministry team for each ministry season (activities, retreats, etc.)
  5. Weekly Wednesday night preparation: sermon, activities, and schedule.
  6. Develop and disciple a highly functioning multi-generational team of leaders.
  7. Pastoral care to students and families through hospital and home visitation and providing referrals for counseling services when needed. 
  8. Plan and lead mission trips and retreats.
  9. Be part of the Ministry Leader meetings and initiatives and work with the young adult team to ensure smooth transitions between ministries.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

  4. Attend worship services regularly and participate in the life of the church family.
