POSITION SUMMARY
The Children’s Ministry Assistant is responsible for the support and collaboration of the children’s ministry, under the direction of the Children’s Pastor, ensuring a safe and effective program and environment. This individual will be tasked with administrative
support of the ministry, various ministry projects and event childcare held by the Children’s Ministry at Mosaic (a.k.a. The Ark).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversight and coordination of specific projects for The Ark.
- Lead children’s ministry programs under the supervision of the CP.
- Assist in recruiting efforts for volunteers for The Ark.
- Organize training and planning sessions for Ark volunteers.
- Assist in screening children’s leaders, teachers, and volunteers, according to Church policies and procedures, prior to placing them in ministry.
- Supervise and support all leaders, teachers, and volunteers as they serve in the ministry.
- Observe, evaluate, and affirm leaders, teachers, and volunteers in order to note strengths to encourage and areas where improvement is possible.
- Train leaders, teachers, volunteers in child protection policies and procedures.
- Assist in investigating any complaints regarding children’s ministry staff/volunteers.
- Document and report serious matters to pastor and proper authorities.
- Pray for the children and children’s ministry staff.
- Assist in purchasing supplies for programs, curricula, projects, keeping within the monthly budget.
- Work with appropriate church staff or volunteers to construct or obtain props or materials needed for the children’s church program.
- Plan special seasonal and monthly activities for children.
- Assist in communicating with church leaders and the congregation regarding the purpose, value, and procedures of children’s ministry.
- Other duties as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)MI
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Strong interpersonal skills—ability to communicate persuasively and compassionately, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Products.
- Highly organized and flexible.
- Exemplary oral & written skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Sense a calling by God into ministry.
- Must agree to uphold and support the missions, vision, and strategy of Mosaic Christian Church.
- Must demonstrate Transformational Leadership to those inside and outside the Church.
SPIRITUAL REQUIREMENTS
- Confesses Christ as Lord and Savior, which is demonstrated by a life of worship and faithfulness.
- Has a strong desire for discipling and mentoring children.
- Demonstrate a heart for personal evangelism.
- Christ-centered living (1 Peter 1:15-16, 1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9).
- Honesty, confidence, humility, teachable and open to change (Philippians 2:5-7).
- Commitment to encourage and empower leadership (James 1:4).
- Spiritual maturity manifested in healthy marriage (if applicable) & home life, love of people and stewardship.
- Displays a contagious passion for God's Word and His people.
- Faithful personal financial stewardship in tithing.
