OVERVIEW
The Student Pastor will serve the vision of Abundant Life Church (ALC) by partnering with students and parents. They will develop a Student Ministry that will help middle school and high school students live out God’s story the way Jesus showed us, develop leaders and teams, pastor and teach students, and provide resources for students to grow in their relationship with God and others.
REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree in ministry/theology or in related field of study (i.e., sociology, psychology, education, communications) preferred.
- Three years serving on a church staff with responsibility and oversight of student and/or family ministries or non-church experience preferred.
- Personal commitment to Jesus and a strong sense of calling to love and serve the church, families, leaders, and youth.
- Missionally and theologically aligned with ALC beliefs.
- Demonstrates ability to engage, coach, and lead adult volunteers.
- Ability to develop and manage a ministry budget.
- Proven experience in pastoring and discipleship.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain mission and vision for ALC’s Middle School and High School Student Ministries.
- Communicate a clear mission and vision known by students, parents, leaders, and the church.
- Develop and maintain strategies that focus on prayer both with the students and in their homes.
- Creates a relational, life-giving, family-like ministry environment, where students are known, cared for, and valued by healthy and caring adults.
- Connect with and equip students, parents, and leaders.
- Recruits, equips, empowers, and releases adults of all ages to serve on within student ministry team implementing the ministry vision while caring for and shepherding students.
- Develops a student ministry strategy and program that provides fun and easy entry points for students to engage with the ministry along with a discipleship pathway that helps students grow a deeper faith and ownership for their faith through our model of Gatherings, Groups, Discipleship and Teams
- Trains students for serving, missions and leadership opportunities and creates opportunities for them to live it out.
- Embraces the pursuit of Neighborhoods to Nations by giving students an opportunity to participate in Outreach and Mission opportunities.
- Develop an efficient student and parent communication pathway to keep families plugged-in to and engaged in the ministry (ie social media, email, apps, website, etc.)
- Connect and partner with parents through consistent communication, tools and support in strengthening the home.
- Provide effective and relevant biblical teaching.
- Utilize planned programming to effectively teach that God’s Word is the authority in students’ lives.
- Prepare biblically-based messages with illustrations that connect with the students and provide practical opportunities to live out what they are learning.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure safety and functionality of the youth facility.
- Document and maintain annual processes necessary for ministry success.
- Execute excellent ministry as a Pastor of ALC by counseling, preaching, and being involved in the essentials of discipleship, such as leading people to salvation, baptizing, serving communion, and performing weddings and memorials
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, engaging public speaking, and teaching ability.
- Ability to solve problems, think strategically, and navigate change.
- Participate in the full worship and community life of the church by attending a weekly Sunday service.
- Live a daily practice of scripture reading, intercessory prayer, and journaling as well as an established mentorship with an experienced Godly leader.
- Live a weekly practice of exercise, nutrition, sleep, family time, and sabbath rest.
