Church Overview:
Christ Church is a vibrant community rooted in our shared faith life and located in the heart of
Macon, Georgia. A mid-sized Episcopal Church of connected and dedicated members, Christ
Church is invested in the lives of our children and teens within our parish and our community. We are looking to add someone to our team who is an energetic, relational leader with the ability to equip other leaders in working with youth as well as organizing systems for ministries. Committed to the richness of our liturgy, we are also a theologically diverse and welcoming congregation.
Position Summary:
The Director of Youth Ministry works to combine discipleship, program, and fellowship while building a lasting connection with our youth and their families. The Director will leverage strategic leadership experience and vision to formulate sustainable ministries to raise up our young people in their life with Christ. The primary goal is to guide youth spiritually as they grow in their faith at Christ Church, connecting them to the wider church experience and members. Cultivating a safe, fun, engaging space of relationship and formation is a key objective. The Director will also partner with the part time Children’s Ministry Director to lay the foundation for an effective and continuous faith formation path from birth to high school graduation. Christ Church is committed to finding the right person for this role whether lay, ordained, or on the path to ordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Relationship:
? Craft compelling and relevant vision and programming for youth ministry, in conjunction with
the leadership at Christ Church.
? Work alongside the clergy, staff, and lay leadership to implement the vision and mission of
the parish.
? Partner with the part time Children’s Ministry Director in a comprehensive faith formation
pathway.
? Collaborate with current and new volunteers in serving our youth.
? Provide pastoral care to youth and families in connection with clergy.
? Establish opportunities for youth to be better incorporated into the life of the parish and to
engage in their faith in meaningful ways.
? Provide leadership to the Sunday morning worship service designed for younger families.
Program Management:
? Strategically plan curriculum studies, church events, and fellowship activities.
? Coordinate a volunteer schedule for youth programming.
? Oversee the Acolyte program in conjunction with parent volunteers.
? Manage the delivery of all weekly programs and activities.
? Lead any annual mission trips and retreats for youth.
? Guide the youth Confirmation class through the spiritual formation process.

? Support the children’s ministry in special seasonal services for all ages as well as children’s
events as needed.
Administration:
? Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Director and other staff to create a year-long
calendar for youth and children’s ministry.
? Establish and implement a consistent, clear, and regular communications plan with youth
and families.
? Maintain database records with accurate information for youth and families.
? Partner with church staff to include youth ministry updates in parish-wide communications.
? Manage compliance with “Safe Church, Safe Communities” requirements as required by the
Diocese of Atlanta.
Reporting Relationships:
The Director of Youth Ministry reports to the Rector.
Qualifications:
? A Bachelor’s degree
? Minimum three years of youth and/or children’s related experience
? A deep personal faith supported by intentional spiritual practices
? Background of serving and/or working in the Episcopal Church
? Strong communication skills across a variety of platforms
Compensation:
The position is open to lay or ordained candidates. The compensation package will vary according to the candidate’s experience, education, and ordination status, consistent with The Episcopal Church and diocesan policies. The anticipated salary range is $50,000-55,000 plus benefits.
