First Congregational Church is a thriving non-denominational church in rural Parkersburg, Iowa. We are seeking a Senior Pastor to help lead our Congregation here at FCC. Our average
attendance is around 170 on Sunday mornings and is made up of a healthy balance of young families and elderly saints. We are an Elder led, Deacon served, Bible believing Church and are a
part of the IFCA Conference.

The Senior Pastor must be a believer in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He must be called by God into ministry, have a servant’s heart and a desire to live for God’s glory. His life should model the Christian Characteristics of an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4. He must have the gift of teaching and have a heart for missions both locally and
globally. He must have a shepherd’s heart and a love for people. He must be a self-starter, able to coordinate schedules and share the vision of the church along with those on the leadership team. He should be gifted in leadership and administration. He should be organized, able to clearly communicate and able to delegate. This man must be in agreement with First Congregational Church’s Mission and Statement of Faith. Primary Responsibilities:
The Senior Pastor will be responsible to help the Elders oversee the Mission and Vision of the church. He will be responsible to oversee the teaching ministry of the church. He will be expected to preach up to 40 Sundays a year. He will be responsible to give careful study to God’s Word with the goal of communicating to the congregation clear, understandable, biblical truth in such a way as to motivate people to application and obedience. He will work together with other members of the leadership team to coordinate and plan worship services, message themes and preaching schedules. He will be a member of the worship committee and will be responsible for communicating with the Worship Director and Student/Worship Pastor and oversee the worship services to ensure that they are well ordered and done at a high level of excellence. He will work to build relationships among the church family and community. The Senior Pastor will be accountable to the Elder Board.
• Under God’s leading, he will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values and mission of the church and help to align the staff, boards, and key leadership teams of the church with
these values.
• Work together with the Elders and Deacon Board to create and champion the overall vision of the church as well as shepherd the church body.
• Take the lead to plan and coordinate the preaching part of the worship service including working together with the Student/Worship Pastor and all those involved to help create
services that are well planned, flow together to an overall theme, and are done at the highest level of excellence.
• Maintain a regular program of study and prayer to enable himself to plan and proclaim messages that are both biblically accurate and relevant, but also provide practical challenges and application to help people grow.
• Responsible for providing spiritual instruction and strategic leadership to staff, board members, ministry leaders and church members so as to build a strong team approach
to ministry.
• Oversee staff and board training and development. Coordinate and lead staff meetings and other activities to clarify and execute goals and objectives.
• Promote and teach New Membership and Baptism classes.
• Responsible for the ministry to the Seasoned Saints.
• Work alongside the Guest Services Coordinator to help create and carry out an overall vision for welcoming and integrating guests into the church.
• Provide counseling for hurting couples and individuals in the church.
• Provide oversight and support for the Adult Sunday school ministry and teachers.
• Oversee the visitation program. Visit the sick, shut-ins, and needy in the congregation and community.
• Oversee the small group ministry of the church, provide teaching resources and help to train and equip small group leaders.
• Oversee Leadership training opportunities in the church to help identify and train current and future leaders.
• Work to build relationships with the church body and people throughout the community.
• Officiate at Funerals and Weddings as needed
