Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Worship Leader at Trinity Lutheran Church is planning, leading, and playing contemporary worship music for our Sunday morning 11:00 am worship service. The Worship Leader will select music for and rehearse with the praise
band, provide music for special services (e.g., Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, weddings, and funerals), and occasionally lead the worship music as a solo musician. The expected time commitment is 20 hours / week, with a negotiable salary.
Qualifications:
- Personal commitment to Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior.
- Skilled instrumentalist, playing piano or guitar.
- Skilled vocalist, with the ability to provide lead vocals.
- Ability to organize, lead and oversee all music within worship services.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships and work effectively in team situations.
- Working knowledge of Proclaim software, Powerpoint, and CCLI - SongSelect.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in leading vocalists and instrumentalists on a worship team.
- The ability to provide musical or spoken transition between songs or service parts and to provide musical interludes and fills behind spoken prayers.
- General familiarity with audiovisual equipment setup and operation, or a willingness to learn.
Job Description:
- Provide leadership and vision for the music ministry.
- Work with senior pastor to plan music for weekly Sunday worship service, selecting songs that engage the congregation and support the Bible lesson or themes of worship.
- Lead music at weekly worship services, as well as special services during the church year.
- Lead a weekly rehearsal to learn new music and to prepare for Sunday worship. Guide the music team during pre-service rehearsal.
- Work with the Tech Team to prepare the service.
- Schedule the volunteer band members and vocalists to serve each week.
- Foster the praise team, recruiting, auditioning, and preparing volunteer musicians to serve the congregation as part of the worship team.
- Expand and keep our song catalog current by maintaining awareness of new music and selecting new songs for Sunday morning worship and special services.
- Maintain compliance with CCLI requirements and other copyright laws.
- Arrange for replacement musician(s) when you will be absent.
- Serve as a leader of the congregation, demonstrating a commitment to our mission: “To make disciples who love God, grow in faith, and serve the community.”
- Actively participate in the life and ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church.
