Leading the people of God in corporate worship by drawing people into the presence of God through powerful modern praise & worship, leading and shepherding the worship team, overseeing all aspects of planning and execution in order to stay musically in line with the process of the ministry, communicating effectively with worship team, choir, band and others that support and align with the worship ministry and by contributing to the Ignite Church creative process.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- All applicants MUST submit links to videos leading worship, in addition to the written resume.
- Applicant MUST BE PROFICIENT ON LEADING FROM KEYS
- Worship Pastor must have a strong relationship with God as evidence by a healthy devotional and moral lifestyle.
- The Worship Pastor should have a strong family life, as evidence by the quality of the relationship with their spouse (if applicable), their children (if applicable) and have the ability to effectively manage their finances.
- The Worship Pastor should be an example of the type of Christ-followers that we want our people to become.
They Must:
- Embrace the ministry's vision
- Align and uphold to the church's statement of beliefs
- Embrace the church's approach to ministry
- Be a skilled muscian and proficient on keys
- Must have an understanding of playing preaching chords as pastor preaches
- Must be able to read music & chord charts
- Gain a basic understanding of Ignite's IEM's and utilize backing tracks, if necessary.
- Utilize contemporary and modern praise and worship songs.
The Worship Pastor must be someone that effectively connects personally to members of the church.
- They must authentic and joyful
- They must be loving toward people, prioritizing others ahead of themselves.
- They must be inspiring, and motivational.
- Their interpersonal communications must be warm and engaging.
The Worship Pastor must be an action-oriented leader.
- They must be able to select, align and lead leaders toward the Church's vision.
- They must demonstrate excellence in leading the congregation spiritually.
- They must demonstrated excellence in being a professional level musician.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Worship Pastor are as follows:
1. Create and carry the worship DNA within the worship experience of our midweek & weekend service
- Creative alignment with the church culture and philosophy of worship
- Engaging, clear communication and spiritual leadership from the stage
2. Draw people into the Presence of God through effective, excellent and powerful worship
- Lead worship for weekend & midweek services
- Chart, track and arrange music when necessary
- Compose and write original worship songs (if gifted to do so)
- Utilize current gospel and contemporary praise and worship songs
3. Provide leadership, coaching and development for musicians & singers
- Oversee all musical direction, band and vocals
- Set clear direction for and expectations
- Develop each singer/musician to his/her potential through regular and effective coaching
- Expand the leadership base of the ministry by identifying, inspiring and mobilizing future leaders
- Be able to hear and teach tenor, alto, and soprano vocal parts
Run effective rehearsals
- Provide strong spiritual and musical direction/leadership of band and vocal volunteers during rehearsals
- Participate in audition processes
- Schedule regular and seasonal rehearsals
- Pastor the leaders serving in the worship arts ministry
- Work with Ignite Media to meet identified training needs for volunteers
4. Build Christ-centered relationships with:
- Senior Pastor and staff
- All leadership and staff
- Campus Servant Leaders
- Ignite Church congregation
5. Participate in the Ignite Media/Worship Planning Team and contribute creative worship ideas on a regular basis and as necessary
- Choose worship music & special music for weekend service and coordinate with Ignite Media team for online and in-house streaming
- Work alongside media team for Ignite Church announcements, commercials, social media videos, and website media.
6. Create an environment that supports feedback, opinions and ideas from those in and around the ministry
- Evaluate worship services
- Meet weekly with Senior Pastor
