Worship Leader

Job Description

This is a part-time, salaried, position that is responsible for leading music during Sunday Worship at Scarsdale Community Baptist Church (SCBC). The Worship Leader will direct the church’s music worship as the lead vocalist to create lively congregational singing which both glorifies the Triune God and edifies the local church. Additionally, the Worship Leader will provide direction, leadership, and coordination of all musical, artistic, and technical elements of the Sunday Worship Service.

Areas of Responsibility

• Lead Worship at 10:30 am Church Service
• In partnership with the Senior Pastor, select and plan music for worship and special services
• Create music team

Qualifications

• To have personally experienced the saving grace of God through Jesus Christ, and possess a clear calling from God to music ministry and worship leadership.
• Higher Education Music Degree or equivalent experience
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication

Musical & Worship Competencies

• The energy and ability to draw people into worship
• Have a quality voice capable of leading worship in music
• Ability to sing a wide range of musical styles

Preferred Qualifications (but not necessary)

• 5 years experience leading worship
• Proficiency in an instrument common for worship (guitar or piano/keyboard) 

Accountability

• The Worship Leader will be directly accountable to the Senior Pastor and the Board of Deacons at SCBC

General Time Commitment

• 4 Hours on Sunday (8:00am to 12:00pm)
• For special occasions (e.g., Easter, Christmas), midweek or weekend rehearsals

Salary

• Depending on skill and experience: $400-500/week
• $20,000 - $26,000 annually
