Student Minister

Primary Function

The Student Minister is responsible for implementing the church’s vision by developing, planning, directing, and evaluating a comprehensive student ministry for students from 6^th through 12^th grades and their families.

Expectations

1. Demonstrate a commitment to scriptural principles and teachings both professionally and personally (Matthew 28:19, Acts 6:4, Acts 20:28, Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 2 Timothy 2:2, 2 Timothy 4:1-5).
2. Spend time in prayer and the study of God’s Word on a daily basis.
3. Thoroughly and intentionally prepare for a variety of presentations (i.e., sermons, presentations, Bible studies, classes).
4. Be involved in personal discipleship, either in small groups or one on one.
5. Set aside one day a month to spend focused on prayer and spiritual reflection.
6. Stay current on the latest trends, methods and materials as related to religious education and training.
7. Be available to the congregation before and after services as other duties allow.
8. Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace to include professional and accurate communication with others.
9. Demonstrate quality leadership and administrative skills.
10. Select, enlist, train and evaluate volunteers.
11. Maintain confidentiality.
12. As available, serve as staff liaison for ministry teams as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
13. As available, support the Senior Pastor in visiting hospitals, nursing homes, etc., and, when called upon assist in counseling, performing weddings and conducting funerals.
14. As available, attend meetings and conferences on behalf of the Senior Pastor.
15. Participate in the life and ministry of the church.
16. Be or become a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Essential Job Functions

1. Demonstrate a personal commitment to the mission, values, strategy and vision of Calvary Baptist Church.
2. Work with the Discipleship Pastor to set goals, determine priorities, establish a student ministry and coordinate a calendar that will lead the church to accomplish its vision.
3. Develop, plan, direct, and evaluate a comprehensive student ministry for students from 6^th through 12^th grades and their families, with a focus on outreach, evangelism and discipleship.
4. Provide leadership to the student ministry of the church including but not limited to Sunday school, discipleship training, and Wednesday night activities.
5. Plan, promote and direct camps, fellowships, retreats, seminars and conferences which will enhance the spiritual growth and development of student from 6^th – 12^th grades and their families.
6. Supervise, train and evaluate the student ministry staff members, such as administrative assistant and/or ministry assistant, in pursuit of effective and efficient performance of their duties.
7. Maintain accurate records for all student ministry programs.
8. Assist in the development of the Ministry Funding Plan; manage budget and resources effectively.
9. Coordinate with volunteers to determine ministry needs and opportunities.
10. As available, attend and participate in weekly and periodic meetings of the church staff; communicate effectively with all members of the ministerial staff.
11. Create an inviting environment in the congregation; follow up with visitors.
12. Communicate with the congregation, prospects and community through appropriate media.
13. Abide by the established code of ethics.
14. Comply with established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Discipleship Pastor.
