Student Minister
Primary Function
The Student Minister is responsible for implementing the church’s vision by developing, planning, directing, and evaluating a comprehensive student ministry for students from 6th through 12th grades and their families.

Expectations
- Demonstrate a commitment to scriptural principles and teachings both professionally and personally (Matthew 28:19, Acts 6:4, Acts 20:28, Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 2 Timothy 2:2, 2 Timothy 4:1-5).
- Spend time in prayer and the study of God’s Word on a daily basis.
- Thoroughly and intentionally prepare for a variety of presentations (i.e., sermons, presentations, Bible studies, classes).
- Be involved in personal discipleship, either in small groups or one on one.
- Set aside one day a month to spend focused on prayer and spiritual reflection.
- Stay current on the latest trends, methods and materials as related to religious education and training.
- Be available to the congregation before and after services as other duties allow.
- Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace to include professional and accurate communication with others.
- Demonstrate quality leadership and administrative skills.
- Select, enlist, train and evaluate volunteers.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- As available, serve as staff liaison for ministry teams as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- As available, support the Senior Pastor in visiting hospitals, nursing homes, etc., and, when called upon assist in counseling, performing weddings and conducting funerals.
- As available, attend meetings and conferences on behalf of the Senior Pastor.
- Participate in the life and ministry of the church.
- Be or become a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to the mission, values, strategy and vision of Calvary Baptist Church.
- Work with the Discipleship Pastor to set goals, determine priorities, establish a student ministry and coordinate a calendar that will lead the church to accomplish its vision.
- Develop, plan, direct, and evaluate a comprehensive student ministry for students from 6th through 12th grades and their families, with a focus on outreach, evangelism and discipleship.
- Provide leadership to the student ministry of the church including but not limited to Sunday school, discipleship training, and Wednesday night activities.
- Plan, promote and direct camps, fellowships, retreats, seminars and conferences which will enhance the spiritual growth and development of student from 6th – 12th grades and their families.
- Supervise, train and evaluate the student ministry staff members, such as administrative assistant and/or ministry assistant, in pursuit of effective and efficient performance of their duties.
- Maintain accurate records for all student ministry programs.
- Assist in the development of the Ministry Funding Plan; manage budget and resources effectively.
- Coordinate with volunteers to determine ministry needs and opportunities.
- As available, attend and participate in weekly and periodic meetings of the church staff; communicate effectively with all members of the ministerial staff.
- Create an inviting environment in the congregation; follow up with visitors.
- Communicate with the congregation, prospects and community through appropriate media.
- Abide by the established code of ethics.
- Comply with established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Discipleship Pastor.
