Because of the love and service displayed in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ, First Presbyterian Church Lake Placid seeks to serve Him by enabling Christ's people to demonstrate His love through solid biblical instruction, vibrant worship, intimate fellowship,
and dedicated service; thereby, fashioning lives into living murals of God's grace and love in Jesus Christ in our community, nation, and world.
FULL-TIME: 40 hours/week
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A dedicated disciple of Jesus with a heart for leading adults and youth in worship using prayer, scripture, personal experience and music. This position will lead the music and provide the media for our contemporary worship service and youth activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Music, Media, and Worship
- Oversee the contemporary service of the church in consultation with the senior pastor.
- Lead all aspects of planning and performance of the contemporary worship service(s).
- Develop and schedule teams of instrumentalists and vocalists.
- Organize and lead
- Provide discipleship care and support spiritual growth of the worship and A/V teams. Some of these team members cannot attend regular small groups due to practice schedules.
- Manage musical instruments and their maintenance.
- Manage computers, sound and video equipment used in worship.
- Manage volunteer schedules for computer, sound and video.
- Oversee sound/video/light ministry.
- Prepare and input media for services
- Check and prepare stage sound equipment
- Plan lighting design for worship services
- Manage and maintain stage presentation.
- Oversee worship ministries for youth ministries
- Lead worship for youth ministries and events.
- Help develop student talents and
- Serve as a resource and assist in children’s music and worship (VBS, special events, etc.)
- Develop and manage the music budget in consultation with the Elders and Deacons
- Attend weekly worship and staff meetings
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent musician/performer/leader
- Energetic and sensitive worship leadership with strong vocal ability.
- Performance skills in either guitar or piano with the ability to play in any key
- Knowledge of music theory as it relates to contemporary music
- Ability to lead/teach lay musicians in a variety of "band" configurations and styles
- Understand what key/melodies/vocal ranges work best for corporate worship singing
- Worship leader experience
- Music arrangement ability
- Have knowledge of audio, visual, computer and lighting equipment as well as skills in audio and visual production (Abelton LIVE, ProTools, Logic Pro, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in music preferred or with equivalent experience
- Committed, mature Christian who understands reformed theology and the role of music in worship
- Leadership ability including recruiting, training, inspiring and nurturing volunteers
- Organizational and administrative skills (planning, implementing, maintaining)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Be literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as specialized worship planning software (i.e. ProPresenter, Planning Center, etc.)
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, ministries and committees
- Willing to submit to a background check prior to employment
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Adhere to all church policies and procedures
- Be a member of First Presbyterian Church in good standing e Understand that this job description is not all-inclusive and can be modified in writing by the employee's supervisor
- Understand that there may other duties as requested by supervisor
- Be able to lift, climb, stand, sit, read, write, type, and have computer skills as outlined in the ADA 1990 Compliance requirement
- Agree to a flexible working schedule
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
All church staff members are under the authority of the Session. The Contemporary Music and Media Director reports to the Senior Pastor. The Contemporary Music and Media Director will have contact with staff members, church leadership, church membership,
visitors from the community, and outside vendors.
