A successful Associate Discipleship Pastor will be someone who is passionate about investing in people and seeing them grow in Christ. The
Associate Discipleship Pastor is responsible for assisting the Discipleship Pastor in the discipleship process of adults at Lakewood Baptist Church. Under the direction of the Discipleship Pastor, the
Associate Discipleship Pastor assists in creating, overseeing, and leading the aspects of Lakewood Baptist Church that make disciples and encourages Christian maturity in all adult environments. This includes discipleship activities that lead adults
through our Experience-Equip-Engage pathway, and advocating for Group Life, outreach, assimilation into various serving ministries, equipping classes, and pastoral care. Through these responsibilities, the
Associate Discipleship Pastor will lead people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities Include:
- People
- Collaborate with the Discipleship Pastor on strategic vision for Discipleship and Group Life culture.
- Provide leadership direction to volunteer teams and manage direct reports.
- Recruit, equip and disciple Group Life leaders.
- Recruit, equip and disciple Men’s leaders.
- Recruit, equip and disciple College/Young Adult leaders
- Liaison and support First-Time Visitor follow-up.
- Provide Pastoral Care in matters relative to congregational care; major and minor life events; as well as other duties as assigned.
- Process
- Equip and encourage people to serve in the church and live on mission in their daily lives.
- Consistently communicate to equip and encourage ministry leaders.
- Meet regularly with leaders to disciple and develop the culture.
- Multiply teams of leaders and teachers.
- Develop and write curriculum as needed.
- Build teams to support group life environments.
- Provide insight and regular evaluation on what is working well and where we can improve.
- Actively participate in the regular life of the church.
- Participate in staff meetings; provide worship service support (as needed).
- Systems
- Utilize the designated, essential tools in The Bridge to document and track the spiritual journey and relationships associated with attendees.
- Utilize suite of technology products (to include, but not limited to: Office365, Gmail, Google docs and calendar, DropBox, Zoom, etc.)
- Follow all established volunteer assimilation best practices and guidelines.
- Complete all required reporting in a timely fashion.
- All other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring:
- Education: a Master’s degree from an accredited Seminary
- Experience: Preferred 5+ years of vocational ministry leadership. Part-time and Full-time experience will be considered.
- Experience and proficiency in supervising personnel
- Experience leading discipleship ministries in a local church (or ministry setting)
- Have a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Be a self-starter who knows how to bring others along with him.
- A servant leader who has done what he will be asking others to do.
- A motivated and high-capacity leader who can innovate within his sphere of responsibility to contribute to the overall mission of LBC.
- A team player and team builder.
- Have an evangelistic heart to engage the community and lead others to step out of their comfort zone to serve locally, nationally and globally.
