Hope Church Montgomery is a dynamic and close family-oriented congregation that exists to multiply hope by being a multigenerational community on mission. We have an audacious goal of planting 25 churches in 25 years, and have already planted three churches in our four-year existence as a congregation! We are looking for someone to shepherd our youth (6th-12th grade) and their families as they learn to trust Jesus Christ with their lives and serve Him.

The right candidate will have a passion for ministering with his family to help our youth understand and experience Jesus’s gift of eternal life, discover their new life in Christ, identify and develop their spiritual gifts, and be equipped to share the good news of the gospel with the world around them, both locally and globally.

Being an integral part of the Hope Church pastoral staff includes an authentic, team-oriented environment and servant leadership, as we wear many hats not always included in a specific job description. A strong focus on discipleship and enthusiastically building long-lasting relationships with youth and parents alike is key in this position.

About Hope Church Montgomery

Our Story

The story of Hope Church began long before we were aware, but God had already started preparing the way. In 2016, at Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands, Pastor Larry York and Missions/Church Planting Pastor, Justin Dancer, began a conversation about starting a church in the Woodforest area.

In January 2018, Justin Dancer, his family, and a core team of about 30 from Crossroads began to hold once a month services on Sunday nights at an elementary school in Woodforest. When long term plans of meeting at the school did not work out as hoped, we moved to Lone Star Elementary School and officially kicked off with Sunday morning weekly services on April 14, 2019.

We met regularly as a core team for prayer, teaching, encouragement, and having church family meals together. We went out in the community, hosting neighborhood block parties, a sports camp, and kindness outreaches. We started adult small groups, and discipleship groups and were excited as we watched our kids ministry and youth ministry begin to grow. Many surrendered their lives to Christ and grew deeper in their journey with God.

We also enjoyed setting up and tearing down each week while we met at the school. It was hard work, but there was joy and a sweet fellowship that was built among those that helped. And then March 2020 happened - the world shut down from the Covid pandemic and we were suddenly without a place to meet.

While we had been meeting at Lone Star Elementary, we began to befriend a church community right next to the school, called Honea Baptist Church. This community of believers had been in Montgomery for 100 years.

In May 2020, the members of Honea Baptist, decided to close as a church and graciously gave us their property. We completed renovations on the building in November 2020 and we are humbled and grateful for the gift of a permanent location.

You will see "Hope Church Woodforest" on many of our things because we thought Woodforest would be our home. When we moved to the new property, we changed our name to Hope Church Montgomery to reflect the community where we reside.

What does the future look like?

It looks like us:

  • Heart Loving God and Loving Others
  • Bible? Making disciples of all ages
  • Seedling? Planting churches (25 church plants in 25 years!)
