The Waypoint Kids Director is responsible for building a team that leads and executes Waypoint Kids’ ministry by inspiring others to serve in Waypoint Kids.

Our children’s ministry, Waypoint Kids, provides relevant, age-appropriate learning and connection opportunities for kids from birth through 5th grade. Waypoint Kids is dedicated to partnering with parents to help raise children to have a strong relationship
with Christ.
The Waypoint Kids Director will work to foster an environment conducive to excellence and safety in the Waypoint Kids ministry. Additionally, the Waypoint Kids Director will invest in the development and leadership of the Waypoint Kids volunteers. This role
will oversee volunteer orientation and training that includes appropriate placement of volunteers based on their personal gifts and passions.
What You’ll Do
- Develop a children’s ministry vision and strategic plan that aligns with Waypoints mission.
- Recruit people through the vision of Waypoint Kids on the weekends.
- Make sure Leaders and rooms are set up and ready to serve on the weekends.
- Connect with Waypoint Kids Leaders weekly via phone call or in-person.
- Help ensure the overall operations of the weekend are meeting all expectations.
- Create a volunteer orientation and training that includes appropriate placement of volunteers.
- Maintain a positive Waypoint Kids environment to establish excellence in the ministry.
- Balance tasks and relational aspects of the role.
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Waypoint Kids ministry.
- Follow protocol to onboard new leaders, including background screening, training, and orientations.
- Lead or co-lead special events like, At the Movies and Trunk or Treat.
- Communicate to leaders, parents, and students in multiple forms (text, email, social media, lobby) the vision and values of Waypoint Kids.
- Maintain child registrations on Planning Center
- Maintain Teacher Applications
- Use applications like Slack, Google Workspace, and Planning Center
- Be a team player, including participating in staff meetings, assisting other ministries, staff members and leaders when needed.
- Regularly meet with Executive Pastor to evaluate and develop leadership competencies, set goals, and pursue excellence in ministry.
Skills Needed to Succeed
- Must exemplify a high level of passion for sharing Waypoint kids vision with our community.
- Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems.
- Effective at multitasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
- Facilitate ongoing training and coaching for volunteers and Waypoint Kids staff members.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
- Follow protocol to onboard new leaders, including background screening, training, and orientations.
- Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
- Maintain composure during stressful situations.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Up to 12 months of related work experience preferred.
- Acceptance and support of Waypoint’s statement of faith, vision, mission, and values
- Display a high level of trust, discretion, and accountability to protect themselves and the church.
Benefits We Offer
- 15 – 25 Hours per week
- Hourly: $27.50 per hour
- There is potential for increased hours based on other leadership abilities and qualifications. Other potential roles could include, but are not limited to, Next Gen, Office Manager, and Events Director.
