Antioch Independent Bible Church Senior Pastor

Antioch Independent Bible Church seeks a senior pastor to love us, shepherd us, to provide spiritual and administrative leadership and oversight to our congregation to fulfill our mission of loving God, and loving people by reaching the lost, brokenhearted, and discipling believers in Luray, Page County, Virginia, and around the world.

Antioch Independent Bible Church was planted 41 years ago by Rev. Frank Painter. He pastored the church till September of 2021, when he went to be with the Lord due to COVID. Our Transitional Pastor is Dr. Don Hicks, don@churchhealthsolutions.com, who has loved and encouraged us, helped us grieve the loss of our beloved Pastor, and is preparing us as a church family to receive God's next Pastor for ANTIOCH. Our church currently has around 120 members and 40 youth (we provide youth Sunday School, children’s church, and Wednesday night youth group) who are part of our commitment to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Duties & Responsibilities

Preaching/ Teaching –

• Biblical Preaching/ Teaching, including series focus
• Preaching and teaching from the King James Bible
• The Pastor shall believe and hold that the Bible is the inspired, inherent, infallible Word of God

  Praying –

• Pray faithfully for the church and community
• Ensure that individual and corporate prayer is a priority for the church

Planning Worship Services –

• Plan and orchestrate the weekly worship service
• Sing hymns and conservative praise music with piano, organ, acoustic guitar, drums, and other instruments
• PowerPoints

Providing Leadership –

• Equip and lead the church to grow in spiritual and numerical growth and depth
• Encourage and guide church members to use their spiritual gifts for the advancement of the Kingdom
• Coordinate staff, Leadership Team, and volunteers within the church to help accomplish the mission of the church
• Establish and oversee a discipleship structure for believers to grow in spiritual maturity
• Lead and oversee the Leadership Team to provide wise and skillful leadership for the church
• Effectively and regularly communicate with church members, staff, and Leadership Team
• The pastor is the spiritual and administrative leader of the church

Providing Pastoral Care and Counseling –

• Provide wise, biblical counsel
• Refer those in need to appropriate resources
• Check in regularly with church members, especially those facing trials or in need
• Follow up with visitors

Providing Outreach –

• Identify local and global evangelism opportunities
• Seek out and oversee opportunities for the church to provide valuable contributions to and to help meet the needs of our community
• Stay in communication with our missionaries
• The Pastor shall be evangelistic, be a soul winner, and train members to be soul winners

Building Relationships –

• Develop and maintain close and healthy relationships with church members
• Establish and nurture relationships with community

Ministry Requirements
 
Qualifications –

• Must meet the biblical qualifications as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7-9
• A degree from an accredited College, Bible School, and/or Seminary is preferred but not required
• Previous ministry experience as a Pastor, Assistant Pastor, or Youth Pastor required
• At least five years’ experience

• Maintains a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, meditation, and other God-given means of grace
• Loves God, loves the church and loves people
• Loves and prioritizes his family and is the spiritual leader of his wife and children
• Has a heart for leading people and seeks to develop his leadership skills
• Recognizes the need for personal care (hobbies, exercise, rest, personal growth, unplugging, taking a Sabbath, time with family and friends)
• Be a peacemaker and handle conflict Biblically
• Be a servant leader
• Strong work ethic
