Overview

The Youth Pastor is a self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for youth ministry, possessing relational skills with youth and their families, and other lay-leaders and staff. They are both gifted and called to share God’s love with youth grades 6 - 12, and have a passion for spiritual growth, both personally and at the ministry level. This person also promotes and coordinates youth special events, trips, and conferences. They also share the vision for youth ministry and manages volunteers from within the church to assist with the ministry.

Education

  • High School graduate
  • Some formal training in ministry from a Bible College or Seminary
  • Desire to continue to grow in God’s Word and attend periodic Seminars on Youth Ministry

Job Skills

  • Proven verbal and written communication and basic administrative skills.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of ministry experience and involvement in a local church setting
  • Comfortable ministering cross-culturally
  • Musical talents and ability to lead in praise and worship a plus

Job Responsibilities

Management

  • Help in the creation and management of an effective ministry program for youth.
  • Recruit, train and mentor volunteers as ministry lay-leaders.
  • Assist in the oversight of youth program under the direction of the Senior Pastor
  • Organize youth trips and activities apart from the regular weekly church schedule.
  • Maintain and build relationships with the parents of the youth.
  • Maintain event permission forms, waivers, consents, background checks, etc. related to youth activities.

Ministry

  • Be present and available to minister to and disciple the youth of NHC on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and give leadership to the Monday night Young Adult Bible Study.
  • Manage Youth volunteers and promote their involvement at our day of Community Outreach each month.
  • Be qualified to conduct timely and engaging services and discussions with youth on relevant topics.
  • Being available to mentor and encourage youth in casual and unstructured interactions.
  • Work to involve our youth in summer camps and special youth events.
  • Be actively involved each July in the annual Royal Family KIDS Camp sponsored by North Haven.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Participate as needed or requested in the evaluation and development of the overall church ministry.
  • Provide monthly expense reports and other reports on a timely basis as assigned by the Executive Pastor.
  • Work in the North Haven Food Pantry as requested by the Executive Pastor.
  • Assist with logistics and facility setup/teardown to support church meetings and programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
