Job Description:

We are looking for a strong yet humble leader with a heart for students and families who also has a passion to help our growing church consistently develop outstanding student ministry environments.  As the Student Ministry Director, you will oversee the Jr and Sr High ministries, helping our students take their next steps in Christ.  You will plan and run the Wednesday night youth meetings and organize and lead any other youth outreach or service events.  You will have a key role in being a champion for helping to create ministry environments where students can learn and grow.

We desire to reach the next generation for Christ.  As a result, we have prioritized our student ministries by establishing a full-time position for this ministry.  Faith Church has a long history of leading students to know what they believe and why they believe it.  Many of the students that grew up in our church are now raising their families here.  We believe that for us to accomplish our mission of reaching people where they are and helping them take their next step in Christ, we need a Youth Director that can focus specifically on our students in 6th-12th grades.  As a ministry that focuses less on programs and more on relationships, we see a need for someone who can lead students to make disciples themselves.

The Student Ministry Director oversees the 6th-12th grade student ministries.  You will work one-on-one and in group settings.  You will be responsible for leading, training, and organizing the student ministries volunteer team so that they engage in our church with excellence, encouraging them toward authentic worship, service, and spiritual maturity.  You will connect relationally with teens and teach them the Scriptures.  You must be willing to get on the level of today’s teen and minister to them where they are while connecting with their parents to help them spiritually guide their children through the teen years. You will work under the supervision of the Lead Teaching Pastor.  The Elder Team places a high priority on the next generation.  You must also share this priority.  You will share in the mission of reaching people where they are and helping them take their next step in Christ.

Responsibilities

  • Seek out, recruit, and invite new students to join the ministry.
  • Actively pray for and engage students to lead them to saving faith in Jesus.
  • Focus on building authentic disciple-making relationships with our students so they can take their next step in Christ.
  • Promote and train students in the need for evangelism, missions, and intentional discipleship.
  • Make connections with the parents of students and communicate effectively with them.
  • Seek out, recruit, train, and equip leaders and volunteers.
  • Attend the weekly staff meetings for collaboration between all ministries.
  • Plan and oversee the mid-week student ministry gathering.
  • Meet as needed with the Lead Teaching Pastor for direction, encouragement, and advice.
  • Plan the Student Ministry calendar and communicate effectively with students, parents, and congregation.
  • Plan and provide leadership for Student Ministry outreach and service events.
  • Work in partnership with para-church ministries to seek out and plan teen ministry opportunities.
  • Plan and execute regular activities for teens to connect for fellowship and outreach.
  • Recruit substitute leaders and coordinate coverage for your “away” weeks.
  • Submit a monthly ministry summary report by end of day each month.

Requirements

  • Must have a testimony of salvation and a continued relationship of intimacy with God, and desire to participate in our church body.
  • Must show a love for God and people.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and high integrity.
  • Must have a clear calling, passion, and experience leading Jr/Sr High students.
  • Must be able to lead a team.
  • Must agree with our Mission and Doctrinal Statement.
  • Must be able to work with the church staff and church body, communicate well, and work within the church family atmosphere.
