Scope of ministry position: The director of traditional music shall be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the traditional music ministry and worship.
Qualifications: This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education or an equivalent degree in Worship and Fine Arts. A Master’s Degree in Music, Music Education, or Worship is a plus. Applicants must demonstrate a proficient ability in choral and orchestral conducting. Applicants should also be skilled as solo vocalists and can lead worship.
Experience: Experience as a traditional church music director is required, including directing choirs, orchestras, and handbells. Applicants should also have experience in managing a church’s music staff.
Responsibilities: The Director will oversee multiple choirs and music groups, as well as manage a music staff comprising an associate director of music, church organist, orchestra director, children’s music ministry coordinator, youth choir director, and two administrative music associates. Volunteer leadership includes a children’s choir director, one team of children’s choir co-directors, two handbells co-directors, a chime choir director, and an adult handbell director.
