OVERVIEW:

New Life Church is seeking to hire a Pastor/Director for its StudentLife ministry (6th - 12th grade). New Life Church exists to help people to be more like Jesus in loving God, loving others, and making disciples to transform our communities. We are a non-denominational, Christ-centered church of approximately 250-350 attenders.We are located in Morton, IL, a great community for families with excellent schools and activities near the city of Peoria.

As we enter this next season of ministry, we aim to infuse collaboratively and relationally a deeper level of discipleship in our church culture. We want a “call up” tone in our church family marked by connection, growth and support that permeates into the town of Morton and the surrounding area. We want to love our church family well and empower them to show the love of Jesus. We are looking for a candidate to contribute to this vision, and we want to support and care for him or her along the way.

The StudentLife Pastor at New Life Church leads the Student ministry and ensures that the vision of the ministry is in alignment with the overall mission, vision, and culture of New Life Church. The StudentLife Pastor will also lead and develop a team of volunteers that work together to create an excellent and Jesus-centered environment each week. The position reports to the Senior Pastor. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cast vision for and steward the culture of StudentLife.
  • Recruit, train, develop and support volunteers to lead and contribute to the ministry.
  • Oversee and ensure StudentLife environment is Jesus-centered, relational, safe, growing, and fun.  
  • Set goals and monitor the health of the ministry and its effectiveness.
  • Plan and lead collaboratively through a discipleship strategy for our students.  
  • Develop a teaching plan and teach regularly at the weekly StudentLife gathering and equip others to teach alongside. 
  • Equip and support parents and guardians to disciple their students more effectively.
  • Administrate the operation of the ministry and manage the StudentLife budget.
  • Create and innovate any additional opportunities, initiatives, events, and environments to minister to students and their families.
  • Participate in reaching out and connecting to students and families in our community.
  • Contribute to the overall shepherding and pastoral duties of the church, including the sunday morning preaching ministry.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong personal relationship with Jesus. We believe that a strong leader leads out of the place of spending time with the Lord. We are looking for someone who consistently exhibits Christlike behavior.
  • Exhibits humility, teachability, and emotional intelligence.
  • Able to lead and empower others and possesses strong relationship skills.
  • Able to teach the Bible and equip others to teach.
  • Experience and strong familiarity with best practices to create a safe environment for students.
  • Has a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Pursues excellence while giving others opportunity to learn and grow.
  • An undergraduate degree and at least 2 or 3 years of experience is strongly preferred.
