First Denton is looking for a leader to oversee and minister to young adults and families in our church. Located just north of Dallas, we are situated in one of the fastest growing areas of Texas and the 20-30 year-old demographic is the fastest growing segment of our population. First Denton is situated within 2 miles of over 50,000 college students, many of whom plant roots upon graduation. All of this growth equals an incredible ministry opportunity. We currently serve approximately 100 young adults and young marrieds each Sunday. What we need is someone who can evaluate what we're currently doing and begin to inject new ideas so that this ministry can be even more effective than it already is. 

Whoever we hire will be inheriting an incredible group of volunteer leaders, teachers, and people who are passionate about serving one another and growing in their faith together. It is a part-time (3/4) time salaried role that will require some flexible hours due to the possibility of some events happening in the evening or on weekends.

Job Title: Young Adults and Families Associate

Part Time: 25-30 hours per week

Reports to: Executive Pastor

The Young Adults and Families Associate will organize and oversee a comprehensive ministry of Spiritual Formation to young single adults and families, ages 22-39, providing resources and programs in collaboration with other ministries in the church to ensure this group is represented well within the staff and afforded ample opportunities for experiencing spiritual growth, fellowship, and community at First Denton.

Essential Job Functions:

• Advocate for the needs of Young Adults and Families within in the church
• Develop healthy relationships with church members in Young Adult and Family Ministry areas
• Develop, equip, and mentor a team of volunteer leaders
• Create different learning environments where spiritual growth can take place
• Attend ongoing staff meetings to collaborate with the Pastoral staff at First Denton
• Oversee the choosing and distribution of Bible study curriculum for Young Adults and Families
• Nurture a warm, welcoming atmosphere that helps our church connect with our community
• Prepare and administer an approved annual budget
• Meet regularly with the Executive Pastor to report on ministry

Spiritual Development/ Ethics:

• Meets qualifications for biblical leadership (1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1).
• Demonstrates a commitment to prayer, the Word, and the local church
• Exhibits a heart of compassion, is trustworthy and a humble servant leader

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in ministry-related area of study (seminary preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years’ ministry experience working with youth/young adults

Necessary Skills, Abilities, and Attributes

• Proficiency with MS Office
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Positive, “can-do” attitude
• Willingness to try new things
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with some events happening in the evening
