Worship Pastor

More than a person to perform duties and fill roles, we are searching for a ministry leader and teammate with a heart for people and building God’s Kingdom. There will not just be a critical opportunity to contribute to a growing ministry, but to develop as a leader both spiritually and strategically as part of a team seeking to bring new people to Christ and disciple all towards greater engagement in the mission of Jesus.

The Worship Pastor will be a leader of leaders in all things creative. As a Pastor, your pastoral heart and passion for experiencing the power and presence of Jesus will not just create and lead worship, but will coach teams to build an even stronger, more dynamic worship ministry. The Worship Pastor will provide musical and technical leadership to pursue excellence for worship experiences, and will also lead the creative planning process.

Key Roles

Every staff member should be an all-in team player dedicated to the mission! You will be a part of a leadership team that creates and models an emotionally healthy culture, demonstrating and encouraging behaviors and actions that are not just consistent with the core values of Westlake, but that also help to build a missional culture.

The goal of worship each week at Westlake is to experience the presence and power of God. As our Worship Pastor your primary role is to lead other leaders and team members as they lead us into deep, meaningful times of worship.

The ideal leader will be:

• A leader of leaders who is able to cultivate and reproduce other worship leaders
• An influencer who is able to help nurture and refine the worship culture 
• Someone with strong interpersonal skills that exude a positive attitude
• Able to self-motivate and make independent decisions 
• An effective coach who equips and pastors worship and tech teams 
• A musician with a solid grasp of band dynamics, worship environment production, and ministry teamwork in a worship team setting

Your personal foundation should include:

• A growing and contagious personal relationship with Jesus Christ that lets you lead people from the overflowing of your growing faith
• Passion for the ministry of the local church and its critical role in reaching people for Jesus.
• A heart for worship and helping others to worship authentically

Key Qualifications

To be successful, you should:

• Demonstrate a strong spiritual maturity
• Be open to new ideas and approaches, with a teachable spirit 
• Be effective at planning, multitasking, time management, and following up
• Have excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
• Know how to make Planning Center and ProPresenter work for you and the team
• Be a wizard with worship, video, and streaming technologies
• Have exceptional talent vocally and musically to lead a worship experience 
• Be able to create calm in in chaotic moments, and demonstrate composure during stressful situations
• Have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both staff and volunteers 
• Expect to be fully engaged in the ministry of Westlake (and your family, if applicable)

Key Responsibilities

• Grow your team numerically - Create a system to recruit, train, equip, and coach
• Grow your team spiritually - Be a pastor to your teams 
• Own the church vision, mission, and strategy
• Plan ahead - Develop a calendar for weekend and event worship planning
• Create passionate, encouraging, & engaging worship sets for the weekend

Opportunities to engage pastorally beyond worship will be available. These include the potential pursuit of licensing or ordination in the Church of God Anderson, and other ministry opportunities. This is a place where you are encouraged to continually grow spiritually, in leadership ability, and in ministry.
