Job Description:

First Baptist Church of Decatur (FBD) is a historic multi-generational church located in the county seat of Wise County, Texas. Wise county will be experiencing significant numerical growth in the coming years due to the growth of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The church worships and gathers on a beautiful 34-acre campus with over 100,000 square feet of facilities. The church ministry income ranges between $1.6-1.8 million annually. The church has a current debt of $1.8 million on a new children’s building and renovations to the campus to enhance its student ministry.

FBD has six full-time ministerial staff (which includes the Executive Pastor). The church weekend worship attendance will range between 350-550, with a consistent small group attendance of around 300-350. Wednesday is a significant night of ministry, with on-campus participation above 400. Most of the Wednesday participation is made up of students and children. FBD has a history of mission involvement both locally and globally. It has a long-term partnership with key churches in Paraguay.

The Executive pastor (XP) will provide oversight and leadership to the ministerial staff to implement the church’s ministries. The XP will mentor and coach a young team of ministry leaders with job responsibilities in adult discipleship/outreach, student ministry, and children/preschool ministry. The XP will also serve as the key administrator of the church office and facilities by providing oversight for the administrative staff (3 part-time staff) and the facilities manager. In addition, the XP will work closely with the Pastor and Finance Committee of the church to manage the ministry budget and other financial matters.

The pastor desires for the XP to focus on building the “body” of the church rather than solely on the building and budgets. The XP will be entrusted with the design and implementation of the “disciple-making” ministries of the church. There will need to be a particular focus on recruiting and equipping lay leaders, starting strong Bible study groups, and strengthening the church's assimilation process. The transformation of the people’s lives will need to be a significant focus of the one called to serve as the XP.
