Description: Journey Church is seeking a new Lead Pastor. Journey Church is a replant church (2015) that has had much success under current leadership and is ready to step into its next chapter as a church. The Church built an exceptional Children's Wing in 2016 and completed renovations in 2022. The Church is "Pastor-Led, Congregation-Owned." We are looking for a relational leader to shepherd and share vision for the 6 pastors and 6 staff. This church is an inclusive environment that falls into the "non-denominational" category - is instrumental and women-inclusive (Pastors and Leadership). While this congregation does not use the "Elder" or "Deacon" title, opting for "Leader," they function under the premise and guide of 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1.

Our church is looking for a lead pastor who is invested in the Kingdom, will provide relatable and scripture based teaching, and can laugh as well as lead. If you are looking for an exceptional church to share your skills, invest your time and energy, and grow the kingdom, this may be it.

The Lead Pastor will operate in five key areas:

  1. Strategic Planning, Vision Casting and Leadership
  1. Sermons, Teaching & Training

  1. Leadership Team Leader Liaison
  1. Pastoral Care

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An appropriate educational background (Bachelor’s Degree Required)

  6. Proficient Technology Skills
  7. Ability to Prioritize and Multi-Task
  8. Attention to Detail
  9. Work fast to meet hard deadlines (i.e.: days NOT weeks)
  10. A willingness to grow and adapt to the inevitable changes found in a growing local church
  11. Able to communicate persuasively and compassionately both orally and in writing
  12. Work as a leader of a team

About Journey Church

Journey Church is a replant church (2015) that has had much success under past leadership and is eager to step into its next chapter as a church.  An exceptional Childrens Wing was built in 2016 and additional renovations where made in 2022 to update the exterior and interior, communicate welcome upon entering and accommodate and allow for growth in other youth ministries. We have a vibrant growing ministries in Childrens, Middle School, Student, and Small Groups.  The Church runs about 250 - 350 on Sunday Mornings.  If you had an opportunity to talk to one or many of the our members and ask, "What keeps you coming back to Journey?", you would hear that our church and people truly do live into the mission of Encountering Jesus, Engaging Together and Empowering Change.  When you walk through our doors, you immediately feel welcome, you want to engage and you have the opportunity to enter into His presence.

Journey is located in Amarillo, a city with a populution of approximately 200,000 which sits in the heart of the Texas Panhandle.  The city is known for its friendly people, breathtaking sunsets, dry heat and to be completely honest, wind; although, we are one of the few cities in Texas that do get a taste of all four seasons.  We can boast about having the second largest canyon, Palo Duro Canyon in the country just 20 miles outside of town, where you can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, ziplining, camping, and the Texas Outdoor Musical.  Amarillo also embraces the arts and museums through the Amarillo Globe News Center, Amarillo Little Theatre, a brand new movie production studio- Sharpened Iron Studios, Amarillo Quarter Horse Museum and Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. On the education front, we have Amarillo College, recognized as a Top Five Institution, West Texas A & M University (Canyon), Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Pharmacy, and the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine.  Last for those sports lovers, we have a minor league baseball team, the Amarillo Sod Poodles (wondering what a sod poodle is?, you'll have to check it out); a junior ice hockey team, the Amarillo Wranglers; and a professional indoor soccer team, the Amarillo Bombers.

As we hope you see, we love our church, our people and our community.
