Our Pastor has seven primary responsibilities:
Heritage Church’s Mission Statement is below:
We are a family of believers in Jesus Giving Hope, Sharing Life, Teaching Truth, and Loving God. Romans 12; Ephesians 3-4
Giving Hope – Preaching the Good News Of Jesus Christ (Evangelism and Missions)
The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18–19, HCSB)
Teaching Truth – Feasting on the Word of God (Receiving, Studying and Memorizing Scripture)
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16–17, ESV)
Sharing Life – Coming to the Throne of Grace (Prayer, Care, and Hospitality)
The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. (1 Peter 4:7–9, ESV)
Loving God – Dispensing God’s love through Word and Deed (Worship, Service and Outreach)
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. (Deuteronomy 6:4–5, ESV)
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us…And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. (1 John 4:11-12, 21, ESV

About Heritage Church
We are a rural, non-denominational church that is in the small town of Odessa, WA. Our town has a population of approximately 850 people. On a weekly basis, we have approximately 70 attendees, but have many other members who are shut-ins or in senior care. We house our community youth group and are very active in our community Vacation Bible School. During the school year, we have Sunday School as well as men’s and women’s bible studies. We are excited to hire a new pastor who is willing to shepherd our flock! We are a church who wants to acknowledge our past but embrace our future. Below are our most recent “plumb lines.”
Our Current Plumb Lines
Health Over Growth
But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head —Christ. From Him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part. (Eph 4:15–16, HCSB)
We Will Not Compromise The Word Of God.
For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new. They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3–4, HCSB)
Organic Authentic Fellowship: Creating a Welcoming Environment
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. (Romans 12:9–13, ESV)
Multi-Generational – Family Of Families: We Want To Do Things That Will Benefit The Youth
Then Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14, NASB95)
Everyone Does Not Have To Do Everything – But Everyone Should Be Doing Something
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10, NASB95)
We Encourage People To Work In Their Gifts And Passions
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly… (Romans 12:6, NASB95)
If You Can’t Live With The Worst Case Scenario, Don’t Do It
A fool’s way is right in his own eyes, but whoever listens to counsel is wise. (Proverbs 12:15, HCSB)
